Yaqing Monastery, Western Sichuan

Yaqing Monastery is located in Baiyu County and is a must-see attraction along Route 317. It is a sacred place for Nyingma practice and is currently the place with the most female practitioners (known as "nuns") in the world. The river divides the area, with female monks living on the island and male monks living outside the island. 📍Address: Navigate directly to Yaqing Monastery. It is located between Baiyu County and Ganzi County, about 2 hours from Baiyu County to Yaqing Monastery. You can stay in Baiyu County the night before and go to Ganzi or Seda for accommodation after visiting. 💰Ticket: No ticket or parking fee required ⏳Duration: About 1.5 hours 🍽Dining: Vegetarian only 🗓Itinerary: Important❗️The first thing you will see when you enter the scenic area is the golden pagoda. After passing the pagoda, there is a fork in the road. There is a small parking lot on the right where you can park. If there is no space, drive up the slope on the right fork and park along the roadside. After parking, walk up the slope to the best viewing platform, the Padmasambhava Buddha statue. Most of the photo spots are here. After taking photos, you can drive along the road on the left side of the fork (County Road 037) and look around. You don't need to get out of the car. 📝Tips: Men are not allowed to enter the nuns' living area. There are usually signs at the entrance.
