Bangkok: Palaces and Temples

Bangkok is undoubtedly one of my favorite city. A modern city with access to the most modern facilities and infrastructure, yet remains grounded to its roots and traditions. The City, to date, still maintains most of its temples and Grand Palaces within the city center, harmoniously co-existing with the new and towering buildings and high rises which dominates the city nowadays. Within the bustling Capital still stands the Grand Palace, which is a complex of palaces and temples divided into several quarters. The Grand Palace, which serves as centerpiece, is the official residence of the King of the Kingdom. Within the same compound stands Wat Phra Kaew or 'The Temple of the Emerald Buddha'. It is the most important and most visited temple in Bangkok. Not too far from the Grand Palace is Wat Po. Wat Po is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok, and possibly the most famous of the many temples. Right by the Chao Phraya is the Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn. Clad in Gold and reflecting through the waters of the Chao Phraya river, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun. #meetbangkok
