Alishan

Alishan is located 75 kilometers east of Chiayi City, Taiwan Province, at an altitude of 2216 meters, adjacent to Yushan, the highest peak in Taiwan. Due to the mild climate in the mountains, it is still cool and pleasant in the hot summer, coupled with lush forests, it is the most ideal summer resort in Taiwan and a famous tourist scenic spot in Taiwan Province. Alishan is adjacent to Yushan Mountain Range and Yushan Park, with an average temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius, an average of 14.3 degrees in summer, and an average temperature of 6.4 degrees in winter. Alishan is composed of eighteen high mountains, which are branches of the Yushan Mountain Range. They are separated from the main peak of Yushan by the Chenlan River, surrounded by peaks, overlapping green mountains, and towering trees. It is said that there was a Tsou tribal chief named Abari who came here alone to hunt. After returning with a full load, he often brought his tribe here. To commemorate him, he named this place after him. The sunrise, sea of clouds, sunset glow, forest and alpine railway of Alishan are collectively referred to as the Five Wonders of Alishan. The Alishan Railway has a history of more than 70 years and is one of the only three alpine railways in the world. It passes through hot, warm, temperate, and cold zones, with different scenery. Taking a train is like being in a natural museum, especially the three spiral loops and the Z-shaped climb of the first branch are unforgettable experiences. Zhu Mountain is the best place to watch the sunrise. You can take a train to Zhu Mountain or go from the stone path next to the telecommunications bureau. After passing through the forest for about 40 minutes, you can reach it.
