Fuzhou Shangxiahang Historical and Cultural District

The Shanghang Road and Xiahang Road in Taijiang District of Fuzhou City, along with their nearby streets, are commonly known as "Shuanghang". It refers to the two parallel cross streets between Xiaohuotou and Damaio Road, which were the commercial center and shipping docks of Fuzhou in the early years. In ancient times, the Min River flowed around Damaio Mountain, and Shangxiahang was the port at the mouth of the upper and lower shipping routes. This ancient district, once famous for its commercial prosperity, has always been an important place for folk customs and historians to study the development of Fuzhou's commerce. The Shangxiahang district in Fuzhou has been designated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as one of the first batch of national-level cultural and tourism consumption clusters for nighttime.
