Haifa, an Israeli city

#July Travel Support Event Haifa, the third largest city in Israel. It is the center of commerce and industry and Israel's most important gateway to the Mediterranean Sea. It is where Mount Carmel and the Israeli coastal plain meet, and the coastal area is divided into a port, a residential area on the hill, and an educational and commercial area on the top of Mount Carmel. Until the Crusades, it was unable to develop in the shadow of the northern city of Akko, but it prospered as a modern port city starting in 1918 under the British trusteeship.
