Singapore Zoo Escapade

Singapore Zoo offered a decent wildlife experience. We visited on an especially hot day, but I still managed to spend several hours wondering around, as there is so much to see. The Fragile Forest area is probably my favorite. It mimics a tropical rainforest habitat and is well laid out for residents and visitors. Animals in here include monkeys, sloths, a variety of colourful birds and curious little Mousedeer (the name says it all). The butterflies at the entrance are beautiful too. I always love seeing the monkeys and Singapore Zoo has a great variety of them. The reptile house is very impressive - turtles, snakes, lizards, spiders and more. And it's a little cooler than outside. The cheetahs, tigers and lion were active and visible when we arrived, just after opening. I recommend getting to the zoo early, especially of you want to see these big cats as they were hiding later in the day. The tram that runs regularly between zones is great, especially when fatigue sets in. There are a number of vending machines dotted around the zoo where you can get refreshment and there's a large cafe and restaurant near the entrance.
