Tin Shui Wai Shop | Hidden Desserts, soft, crunchy and so fun!

🏠One Sugar @ Shop 1, G/F, 249 Sheung Cheung Wai, Ping Shan, Tin Shui Wai I drove here from Kowloon after seeing all the good reviews online. The round trip took about an hour and a half. The restaurant's location may seem hidden, but it is actually behind Tin Shui Wai Station, so transportation is quite convenient. The restaurant is an "independent house" on an open space. There are not many seats indoors, but the outdoor area is large with many tables and chairs. The tables are kept at an appropriate distance from each other, so it can accommodate more people than most dessert shops. p.s. I was bitten by mosquitoes a few times while sitting outside that night 🍯Caramel custard $32 The price is relatively cheap, and the portion was surprisingly large, about the size of a family-sized rice bowl. I was so happy that my face turned black after taking one bite. The custard was thick and solid, not fragrant or sweet, the caramel on top was burnt and tasted very bitter. It was so unpalatable that I didn't want to eat it, so I threw it away. 🥔Ginger juice purple sweet potato soup balls $36 A small cup of ginger juice with ginger paste is provided for diners to add by themselves, but after drinking the whole cup, the ginger flavor is still weak and the soup is not memorable. The soup balls were nothing special, similar to the ready-made ones in supermarkets, and the purple sweet potatoes were not sweet either. The snow fungus is a huge ball, which is a bit messy to eat. It would be better to cut it into several pieces before cooking. 🧇Mocha Crispy Mochi Waffles $60 This shop has many varieties of waffles. I found mochi waffles which are not common. I asked the clerk what the difference was between mochi waffles and waffles without the word mochi in the name. The clerk was very impatient and replied that if it says mochi, then it has mochi, and if it doesn’t say it, then it doesn’t. Hmm... I understand. The Mocha Crispy Mochi Waffles had a rather dry texture. Although the dough was sprinkled with chocolate paste, it was so little that it was useless. The only option was to spread the accompanying Mocha Crispy Ice Cream on the waffles to moisten them. The waffles themselves had very little flavour, with the flavour mainly coming from the ice cream. The only redeeming quality of this dessert is its texture. The waffles are crispy and the mochi part is chewy. The ice cream solves the problem of being dry and bland, so it is barely acceptable. It’s not enough to just eat waffles without ice cream. 🤓Conclusion: The restaurant is spacious. If you are not able to eat a full meal nearby, it is acceptable to come here to eat dessert and chat with friends and family.
