To Kwa Wan's Retro-Themed Photo-Worthy Restaurant

Although I didn't grow up in To Kwa Wan, nor do I like visiting cha chaan tengs, I know a bit about Mei Ho House's breathing cha chaan teng. I also learned that the transformed Breathing Planet Restaurant is facing the crisis of closing down. The reason is that the Urban Renewal Authority announced the redevelopment of the five streets in To Kwa Wan, and the restaurant is also doomed to be redeveloped. It's really a pity to see restaurants in Hong Kong closing down one by one. The main reason for my visit to 'Shan Chang Shui Yuan' this time is to taste the 'delicious food' that my friends talked about before it relocates or closes down. Another reason is that I tried the local beef in Okinawa last time and the unforgettable taste made me want to experience it again. However, I was a bit disappointed that day, whether it was due to the chef's miscalculation or my personal taste. The nostalgic decorations and items, such as the Queen's red postbox and the retro rotary dial telephone, are really worth taking photos of. The whole retro environment is like a 'mini museum'. On the day, I chose: 🌟 Aburi Tri-Tip Beef Donburi $278 Thin slices of A4 Wagyu tri-tip, tender and smooth, slightly grilled to enhance the fatty flavor, indeed very soft, but the rice underneath was a bit too soggy. The meat spread over the rice made it feel greasy. 🌟 Thick Cut Beef Shoulder $298 There's a larger portion available, but we wanted to try more varieties, so we only ordered a medium portion. The meat from the prime corner section, rich in fat, soft and silky, thickly sliced with homemade sauce, was quite tasty. However, the same problem was that the rice was really too wet that day.
