Off-the-beaten-path treasure in Sichuan border | HuiLi Ancient City travel tips

While traveling to Xichang, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, I accidentally discovered this HuiLi Ancient City located in the remote southern border of Sichuan, and I was attracted. What attracted me is that this is a niche, unpopular, basically unknown primitive ancient city, without the hustle and bustle of tourists taking pictures and checking in, only the locals are strolling in their own ancient city. HuiLi Ancient City is the first national historical city of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, with a sense of historical vicissitudes and heaviness. It was built in the Ming Dynasty and was a fortress of the Ming Dynasty. It has a history of more than 600 years and is also a post station on the southern Silk Road. The layout of HuiLi Ancient City is centered on the Bell and Drum Tower (Lingxiao Tower), extending through the four streets of southeast, northwest. ✔️Check-in Tips: 1️⃣Lingxiao Tower (Figure 1-4) is the landmark building of HuiLi Ancient City. The four sides of the tower are decorated with lights and hung with red lanterns, which highlights the charm of the ancient city. The lanterns in the ancient city light up at night, giving people a sense of traveling to the ancient prosperous times. 2️⃣North City Tower (with the plaque of 'Wang Emperor', Figure 5-6), that is, Gongji Tower, is the oldest existing building in HuiLi. Here you can climb the city tower to enjoy the scenery and drink tea. 3️⃣The Church of the Holy Mother (Figure 7-8, located in HuiLi Ancient City, built in 1926, is a French Gothic brick and wood structure combined with traditional Chinese pavilion-style architecture. 4️⃣Kejia Lane (Figure 9-10), a deep alley, but it is the residence of hundreds of scholars and Jinshi, with historical significance. 5️⃣'Up Tea Down Courtyard' next to the North City Tower (Figure 11-13), you can 'go up the roof', drink tea, drink wine and take pictures on the top of the ancient city house~ HuiLi Ancient City has a strong regional cultural characteristics, located at the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces, not only integrates the temperament of the two provinces, but also mainly features the ethnic style of the Yi minority. Starting from Xichang, we pass through Puge, Ningnan, Huidong to HuiLi, feeling the ethnic style of the Yi and Bouyei minorities along the way. ✔️Liangshan Travel Tips: From Chengdu to Xichang, it takes 3 hours by high-speed rail and 5.5 hours by self-driving; you can rent a car after arriving in Xichang by high-speed rail. 🚗We set off from Chengdu for a self-driving tour. The self-driving tour route is: Chengdu—Xichang【5.5h, the whole journey is high-speed and the road condition is good】 Xichang—Ningnan【3h, the national highway is in good condition】 Ningnan—HuiLi【3.5h, national highway, there are many mountain roads, which test driving skills】 HuiLi—Chengdu【the whole journey is high-speed, 6.5h】
