China and Vietnam share a long border, however the most spectacular part of this must be the Detian Waterfalls in China's Guangxi Province. Around a 3 hours drive eastwards of Nanning, or alternatively south from Baise, it is reached by private car or public bus. To drive here, you can rent a car and drive yourself as the roads are in good condition and not difficult to navigate, or you can hire a driver. For the bus, you can depart from Nanning bus station, although this option is slower. Remember to bring ID or passports for buying tickets and for the frontier border check-even though you're not leaving a country, all vehicles are still inspected. When you arrive, you board the sightseeing bus up the mountain, straddling the river that seperates the two countries, finally arriving at the top and the waterfall scenic area. You walk in a circular direction around the waterfall from the east side, offering spectacular close-up views of the whole valley. There are many observation points for photos or videos here. There are places to buy souvenirs and also vietnamese snacks. Be sure to try the cliff walk, glass bridge and the slide down the mountain for 59¥! Best time to visit here has to be mid-afternoon, so that you get both daytime and the evening sunset over the mountains range and waterfalls.
