Karuizawa: A nature-close holiday resort

Karuizawa is located in Nagano and is a famous holiday resort around Tokyo. Just take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Kanazawa, and you can reach this charming place in just over an hour. As soon as you step out of Karuizawa Station, the holiday atmosphere immediately hits you. The temperature there is lower, the rolling hills, the exquisite and distinctive buildings, the magnificent station, and the feeling completely different from the countryside. Karuizawa Station has two exits, north and south. The north exit leads to the old Karuizawa Ginza, and the south exit is the Prince Outlet and the huge Prince Hotel, as well as ski resorts and golf courses. Among the outlets I have visited, this should be the most beautiful in terms of scenery and design. Although there is no time for shopping, I still saw a Patagonia outdoor brand store on the street. The Karuizawa Hotel is mainly divided into the East Pavilion and the West Pavilion. We chose the log cabin of the West Pavilion as our accommodation. There is a shuttle bus between the station, outlets, West Pavilion and East Pavilion. Wait for the bus at the station boarding point, and then get off at the West Pavilion lobby (this is the second lobby, the first lobby is the banquet hall). The guest rooms in the West Pavilion have been renovated. The log cabin we stayed in can be reached by walking or by car. Although the facilities are a bit old, they are well maintained and can accommodate four people. The cost performance is relatively high. There are many restaurants in the hotel. Breakfast needs to be reserved in advance, and other restaurants are also best reserved in advance, because the hotel often hosts various large-scale events such as weddings and meetings. The log cabins are scattered among the woods and grasslands, and the environment is beautiful. It should be even more wonderful to come skiing in winter. The houses on the streets of Karuizawa are full of exoticism, there are more Western restaurants than Japanese restaurants, and there are various facilities such as modern art museums. The scenes of dogs and other pet-friendly scenes everywhere are unforgettable.
