The National Mosque, located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, covers an area of 5.5 hectares. The mosque was proposed by Malaysia's first Prime Minister Rahman in 1957 and was completed in 1965. The architectural style of the National Mosque is simple and beautiful, with a grand momentum. The National Mosque can accommodate 15,000 people at the same time. The building is a reinforced concrete structure system. It symbolizes the aspirations of Malaysia, which had just gained independence at that time, with a 73-meter spire and a concrete roof as the main. The inspiration for both comes from the shape of an umbrella, which is synonymous with the tropics. The 18-pointed star on the main roof reminds people of an open umbrella. The main roof was once pink, and now it is covered with blue and green tiles. The 18-pointed star dome comes from Malaysia's 13 states and the five pillars of Islam. Concrete folding plates are used to achieve the larger span required for the mosque hall. The National Mosque of Malaysia is very different from the 'onion head' dome of ordinary mosques, with a special star-shaped roof, a light and dignified style, especially the forest-like colonnade outside the prayer hall, creating a sense of modernity and space, bringing out a bit of solemnity and mystery.
