Kiyomizu-dera Temple 🙏⛩️🍂 Kiyomizu-dera Temple, also known as the Clear Water Temple, is one of the oldest temples in Kyoto that has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name of the temple comes from the flow of Otowa Waterfall from the hill to the temple grounds. The Japanese believe that this waterfall is a pure and clean waterfall that can help eliminate bad things from life. 🍁⛩️🍂 Hondo is a building facing the same direction as the cliff on the shoulder of Otowa Mountain. The building is 13 meters high and was built using the ancient method called Kakezukuri, which is a wooden structure. The use of wedges without nails is an ancient wisdom that makes the building resistant to earthquakes. There are 18 large pillars at the bottom that support the weight. It is the main hall used for ceremonies and is a popular spot for people to view Kyoto.
