Historical Legacy: The Ancient Weir Painting Village

The Ancient Weir Painting Village scenic area is located within the territory of Bihu Town and Dagangtou Town in Liandu District, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, about twenty kilometers from the city center of Lishui. The core area includes Dagangtou, Weir Head, Pingdi, and Baoding, which have a profound historical and cultural heritage and a strong atmosphere. The Longli and Lilong expressways have exits here, and the 53 and 50 provincial roads run through the entire territory. It is connected to the national railway artery through the Lishui Station on the Jin-Wen Railway, making transportation convenient. It is just over 100 kilometers away from Yiwu, China's largest small commodities city. The Ancient Weir Painting Village conveys the complete ecological and cultural beauty of Lishui to the world. The concept of the Ancient Weir Painting Village was first proposed by Lou Yangsheng when discussing the cultural industry project positioning for the Dagangtou area. 'Ancient Weir' first indicates the profound historical and cultural background. Here, there is the Tongji Weir built in 505 AD, a national key cultural relics protection unit, ancient streets, ancient pavilions, ancient wharfs, ancient celadon kiln sites, large and small ancient villages, and groups of ancient camphor trees, vividly expressing the beautiful landscape of a genuine mountain and water, naturally simple ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River. 'Painting Village' highlights the cultural characteristics and development positioning. It is home to the famous 'Lishui Babison Painting School' from inside and outside the province, with facilities such as the Lishui Babison Exhibition Hall, Lishui Oil Painting Academy, Ancient Weir Painting Village Exhibition Hall, and Ancient Weir Painting Village Branch School.
