The prominent architectural landmark

#ldninsider Beyond its architectural landmark status, St. Paul's Cathedral serves as the Anglican Episcopal see in London and thus has figured prominently in many major cultural and religious events, from the funerals of Lord Nelson and Winston Churchill to the marriage of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer. Destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666, the current building was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1710. Its iconic dome is 111 metres (364ft) high and is one of the largest cathedral domes in the world. We booked online with an entry time in the late afternoon on a Monday and were able to enter with no queue. There was much more to see here than I recall from my first visit over 40 years ago. The audio guide was invaluable. It's an architectural triumph and quite impressive to see in person.
