Macao Museum—A History of East-West Cultural Exchange

The Macao Museum is located at No. 112, Praceta do Museu de Macau, in the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. It is a comprehensive museum with a total area of 2,800 square meters and an actual exhibition area of about 2,100 square meters. It was completed and opened to the public on April 19, 1998, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Guterres. The Macao Museum is mainly divided into three floors. The first floor displays the early history of Macao, the second floor showcases Macanese folk art and traditions, and the third floor exhibits contemporary Macanese items. The museum utilizes high-tech methods such as three-dimensional displays, light, sound, and images, and employs replicas and models to enhance the display effect. Its main collections include calligraphy and paintings, the match industry, export porcelain, folk rituals, the Hac Sa archaeological site on Coloane, and items from the firecracker industry.
