Madrid's Cathedral

The Almudena Cathedral in Madrid, Spain was first built in 1879 and completed in 1993. When Spain moved its capital to Madrid in 1561, plans to build the Cathedral of Our Lady were already being discussed. However, at that time, Spain was busy expanding and preserving its empire around the world, especially in the Americas, so the construction of the Madrid Cathedral was delayed for three to four hundred years. When the empire was almost completely shattered, they remembered to build the largest church in the world. One can imagine the importance of this church, but it does look quite beautiful.
