牛首山 - Niu Shou Mountain

Niushou Mountain, also known as Tianque Mountain, is one of the four famous scenic spots in Jinling, located in the Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone in Jiangning District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. The mountain has been a holy Buddhist site since the Tang dynasty (618AD – 907AD) although the original temple was destroyed during the Taiping Rebellion in the 1850s. The Niushou Mountain scenic area covers 197 acres of perfectly landscaped trails and gardens an oasis in a busy, crowded city. The main attraction of the park is the Usnisa Palace (Fuoding Palace), which goes 6 stories deep underground. The palace, the garden, the pagoda, and the decorations are nothing but incredible. If you are already in Nanjing, you can easily get to Niushou Mountain by taking the subway. You can take subway line S1 to Hehai University – Focheng West Lu station (河海大学·佛城西路) and then transfer to a bus or taxi to reach the Niushou Mountain scenic area. You have the option to purchase tickets online in advance or directly at the ticket counter when you arrive at the location. If you are a student, be sure to bring your student ID to take advantage of any available discounts. To reach the top of the site, you can either walk or take a sightseeing bus if you prefer not to walk. As for shopping, there is no specific information available about shopping at Niushou Mountain.
