Zhou Enlai's ancestral home in Shaoxing is located along the Baoyouqiao River in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province (No. 369, Laodong Road, Yuecheng District). It is a brick and tile house facing north and south with the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty and a traditional black bamboo door. The ancestral residence has a simple and solemn appearance, with three entrances and three rooms in each entrance. There is a patio between the two entrances, and small corridors on both sides of the patio. In the middle of the first entrance is the stage gate, with side rooms on the left and right. The second entrance is the hall. The third courtyard was originally a building, but after it collapsed, it was converted into a bungalow. According to local chronicles, the Zhou family of Baoyouqiao moved to Shaoxing City during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. During his lifetime, Zhou Enlai also said many times "I am from Shaoxing" and called Shaoxing his hometown. Zhou Enlai's ancestors lived here for generations, and moved to Huai'an when his grandfather was working in Jiangsu. The Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall is located on the south side of his ancestral residence and was completed and opened in June 2001. The Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall has rich exhibits, which are mainly divided into four parts: Zhou Enlai's former residence, the memorial hall, the "Zhou Enlai and Hometown" display, and the Glorious Life Exhibition Hall. The "Zhou Enlai and His Hometown" exhibition consists of two parts: "Zhou Enlai and His Hometown" and "A Thousand Mile Journey in the Flames of War", which fully demonstrates Zhou Enlai's deep connection with Shaoxing and his deep love for his hometown and relatives. The Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall is a national AAA-level scenic spot, a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province and a patriotism education base.
