Riverside of Xin'an River | Exploring the Hidden Landscape Paradise in East China!

"The lake is as vast as Dongting, and the river flows into Xin'an clear" - poets always sing praises to the clarity of Xin'an River. From Mount Qi Yun to Yanzhou Ancient City, this mother river of Huizhou has nurtured too many sceneries worth talking about. As spring is in full bloom, let's start with the famous 'Landscape Gallery'. 📍Introduction to Xin'an River: Originating from Xiuning, Anhui, it flows through a fertile waterway of over 300 kilometers from Huangshan in Anhui to Jiande in Zhejiang. The so-called 'Landscape Gallery' usually refers to the nearly 100-kilometer-long riverside area from Nanyuankou Township (Shexian) to Qiandao Lake (Xin'an River Reservoir). Hiking Route: There are many ways to hike along the river, and the 10-kilometer trek from Nanyuankou to Xiongcun is one of the classics, generally "Nanyuankou Village - Xiaomeikou - Pukou Village (take a ferry across the river) - Zhucun - Yicheng Village - Xiongcun". 🚶🏻‍♂️Starting Point - Nanyuankou Village in Shexian: Next to it is the 'Nanyuankou Bridge' across the river, then follow the north bank trail heading southwest. Golden rapeseed flowers are embedded along the riverbank, and ancient camphor trees standing for centuries watch over the white Hui-style villages. The riverside trail will extend all the way to Pukou Village. 🚶🏻‍♂️Taking a Ferry at Pukou Village: As shown in picture 10, it takes about ten minutes to reach Zhucun on the opposite bank, and continue southwest along 'Zhucun Road'. Warm Tips: Yuliang Dam and Huizhou Ancient City: If you do not take a ferry at the dock, you can head north along the 006 county road, with the destination being Huizhou Ancient City and the county town of Shexian. 🚶🏻‍♂️You will pass through the beautiful Yicheng Village, where an ancient camphor tree by the roadside is a highlight. Its tree hole acts like a lens, reflecting the dense spring atmosphere under the canopy. Then you will ascend the 'Xiongcun Bridge' across Xin'an River. 🚶🏻‍♂️Xiongcun: After crossing the Xiongcun Bridge, you will reach the 'Xiongcun Scenic Area' in Shexian. It is said that at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the Cao family moved here, and the clan got its name from the 'Cao Quan Stele' which reads 'branches spread and leaves flourish, wherever they are, they are prominent'. Having grown a bit 'aesthetically tired' of the rapeseed flowers, you can take a closer look at this culturally rich ancient village. The 'Zhushan Academy' in the village is worth a visit. 🌈'The Same River': Xin'an River and Qiantang River are actually different sections of the same river. Xin'an River meets Lanjiang at Wulong Mountain (Yanzhou Ancient City) in Jiande and enters Tonglu Fuyang, known as 'Fuchun River', and then flows to Xiaoshan, where it is called Qiantang River.
