Singapore is expensive. However, in local areas a short bus ride away from the city center, prices are the same as in Japan. When you hear Geylang, you may think of it as a nightlife spot for men, but that is only a small part of Geylang. Geylang is actually a street lined with restaurants. (There are far more restaurants than nightlife establishments) There are many popular restaurants in Geylang, and one of them is Happy Seafood Village. As the name suggests, it is a hawker (a market or food stall in Southeast Asia) where you eat food and drink delicious seafood. There are beer girls selling beer for each manufacturer, and they are very salesy, but drink what you want! (lol) In central Singapore, a beer costs about S$12 per glass, but here it is S$7-8 per glass.
