Escape from the City: Da Chen Island | A Populated Residential Island (Part 2)

Da Chen Chapter Accommodation: Yinghai Villa The guesthouse has a large terrace at the entrance where you can sit, drink tea, and look at the sea. It's well-located with a great view, and the room facilities are good, including a small balcony (Pic 2). The owner rents out electric scooters very cheaply, 100 yuan for a whole day (from the day of check-in until noon the next day). If you go over time, it's an additional 25 yuan/hour (that was the price we rented for during May Day). Day One: Jiawu Rock ➡️ Langtong Gate ➡️ Plum Blossom Bay Maybe because I had been to Shang Chen Island before, Jiawu Rock didn't impress me as much. But it's still very beautiful, and the mountains, rocks, and ocean are very soothing. Along the way, there are many scenic spots (Pics 3-8), and the lighthouse area is very photogenic. You can go down to the rocks at Langtong Gate (Pic 9), but I don't recommend it for watching the sunset, as the sunset's position is not there. 📍Plum Blossom Bay Food Plaza 1⃣️ Da Chen Fried Skewer Shop: Really, really delicious, but overall a bit oily and high in calories. Inside, the rice cake/grilled sausage/stinky tofu is not recommended, they taste average. The fried eggplant is unbeatable, must try! 2⃣️ Tea Leisure Encounter: Highly recommend the mango pomelo sago, it contains coconut milk, and it's not too sweet without ice, feels better than the seven-point sweet version (Pic 15). 3⃣️ Zhang Jian Stall: Garlic scallion oysters (said to be very tasty, wanted to try before leaving, but didn't get to eat because the grilled oyster chef was not there) they have small and large oysters, priced differently. Day Two: Reclamation Monument ➡️ Chicken Cage Head (Island Cycling) The weather was overcast, and the overall scenery was much less impressive, perfectly illustrating 'Bad weather just makes it an ordinary island'. The Reclamation Monument—the highest point of Da Chen Island, where you can overlook the entire island (Pic 12). Taking photos here, with a white dress, also feels very artistic and fresh (Pic 11). On the way to Jiawu Rock, you'll pass a small platform, which is the road to the end of Jiawu Rock, and you can also take pictures at will. Chicken Cage Head is a fish farm, suitable for 👀 sunset watching 🌄 (Pic 13) I didn't expect the weather to be so bad on the second day, otherwise, I would have checked these two spots off on the first day. Additionally, the boat tickets for going to and from Da Chen Island are 10 yuan/person, available on-site, with both large and small boats.
