Cleansing Ritual in Bali : Melukat

#2024wish Pura Tirta Empul Address: Tampaksiring, Gianyar Regency, Bali 80552, Indonesia A notable experience from my recent journey to Bali was participating in the traditional Balinese purification ritual known as Melukat. Melukat is a traditional Balinese Hindu purification ritual performed by the Balinese people in Bali, Indonesia. The word "melukat" is derived from the Balinese word "lukat," which means to cleanse or to purify. This ritual is typically conducted to cleanse the body, mind, and soul from negative influences, impurities, or spiritual disturbances. Located inside Tirta Empul temple, visitors need a ticket to enter. Before the procession, visitors need to pay another small fee to change their clothes into the locally designated clothes, and flower offerings. Begin the procession by offering a prayer and making a wish. Initiating the procession is uncomplicated, with local guides available to assist you. Follow the designated path, commence the purification ritual, and express your wishes as you move from one shower to the next. Take note that certain showers are marked as non-functional, as indicated by a sign above them. The water is exceptionally fresh, and its sensation differs significantly from ordinary water. It truly possesses a sacred quality. It's an incredibly remarkable and indelible experience. #bali
