The Fahai Temple in Slender West Lake, Yangzhou

The Fahai Temple, located on the high platform south of the Lotus Bridge in the Slender West Lake scenic area of Yangzhou, is adjacent to the White Pagoda. It was originally built in the early Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1300 years. In the 44th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1705), Emperor Kangxi bestowed the name 'Lianxing Temple' during his southern tour to Yangzhou. The temple was destroyed by war during the Xianfeng period and was rebuilt during the Guangxu period, still known as 'Fahai Temple'. The temple is not large in scale, and the existing buildings include the Maitreya Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the Sutra Repository, and the Yunshan Pavilion, among others. Overall, Fahai Temple is built by the lake, complementing the White Pagoda in front of the gate. It is quiet and elegant with beautiful scenery.
