June to September: Situated at a height of 1,600 metres, the climate in Zermatt is very pleasant until autumn. The best time to visit Zermatt is during summers, between June and September. The temperature ranges from 12 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. September is generally excellent for hiking and biking, with daytime highs averaging 15 degrees Celsius. It is also a good time for skiing and other adventure activities. November to January: Christmas and New Year’s is another peak season for tourism in Zermatt, especially for adventure enthusiasts. The accommodation at this time of the year is premium and reservations well in advance, are a prerequisite. Although the temperature easily dips below zero, this is also the time when Mt. Matterhorn is thronged by skiing enthusiasts from around the world.
