🚄 We took a special trip from Kyoto City to Kameoka Station by JR train, eagerly anticipating the Hozu River boat ride, an activity steeped in Kyoto's ancient water transport culture. 🛶 The day was windy and cold, but when we arrived at the dock, the children were thrilled to see the large traditional wooden boat. The length of the Hozu River boat trip varies depending on the water level, taking about 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2 hours, making us even more excited for this water journey. 🚣 During the voyage, the boat moved slowly with the current, and the scenery along the way was breathtaking. The boat passed under many arches and iron bridges, and when a train passed by, the echoing sound in the valley was surprising, prompting everyone to take out their cameras for photos. Although it was winter and there were no cherry blossoms or autumn leaves, the strange rocks and misty mountain views along the way still showcased the charm of the Hozu River. The children quietly observed, filled with curiosity about every scene. 👩🏻❤️👧🏻 This boat trip with the children gave me a new perspective on family time. From the thrill of screaming on roller coasters at theme parks to now quietly appreciating the beauty of nature, this slower pace brought us closer together. 🏞️ When we arrived at Togetsukyo Bridge, the sunset on the river was as beautiful as a postcard. Nanatani River (Kameoka) I originally planned to go to Kyoto, but the places I wanted to see cherry blossoms were almost gone, so I kept searching for information and found this place by chance. Which is a bit hidden but looking at the picture, it looks really beautiful. If you pin it on Google Map, it's called Sakura Park, but according to the review (that I found), it's called Nanatani River (Yawaragi Road) in Kameoka City. If anyone has been to Arashiyama, this place is a little further (if you take the Rapid train, it's only one station away). To JR Kameoka Station, there are two ways to get here: by bus (200 yen), but the bus runs every 2 hours. The return trip is the same, every 2 hours. That means we'll have about 2 full hours to take pictures. Bus times Outbound: 7:47 / 8:55 / 10:05 / 12:45 / 14:06 / 15:06 / 17:36 Return: 7:31 / 8:29 / 9:52 / 12:11 / 14:52 (only on holidays) / 15:52 / 18:23 Another way is Taxi, but can only be called for the way there. It was a fantastic experience for Hozugawa River Boat Ride during the Autumn season! The whole boat ride journey took around 2 hours, yes it was long but totally worthy when you have different natural scenery along the journey ride. The red yellow colour of the tree have painted a nice pictures along the Hozugawa river. unfortunately I’m not able to understand Japanese, the captains of the boat are making jokes and some fun fact of the places during this 2 hours journey! worth for a try!

I visited both over the past two years! 🤍 This year, Nara's "river spots" suddenly went viral! 😂 Between Saho River, Soga River, and Takada River, I kept hopping back and forth trying to choose (honestly, they’re all quite similar — just pick one!). In the end, I chose Takada River, because it has bridges, train tracks, and a beautiful river all in one spot — such a classic Japanese drama vibe! ✨ Takada Senbonzakura here is absolutely beautiful ✨ The scenery covers everything you imagine from a dreamy J-drama setting — Although the trees aren’t as giant or overwhelming as Sewaritei or Nanatani River, the variety of backdrops and the cozy, everyday-life feeling makes it really charming. That day wasn't super sunny and it was a weekend, so there were more locals than tourists. I had to hunt a bit for the perfect angles, so there were a few tiny regrets 😭 But overall — the scene + JK uniform were a match made in heaven!
