It was a short weekend getaway to Lyon, France. We began our day with a visit to the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière, perched atop a hill overlooking the city. The basilica's stunning architecture, with its mix of Gothic and Byzantine styles, took our breath away. We explored the interior, marveling at the beautiful mosaics and stained-glass windows, then climbed to the observation deck for a panoramic view of Lyon 😍😍😍 📍8 Place de Fourvière, 69005 Lyon, France 💰Free, but a small fee of €3 to access the observation deck We also wandered down to Vieux Lyon, the city’s charming old town. We explored the narrow cobblestone streets lined with Renaissance buildings and discovered some of the city’s famous traboules (hidden passageways). It felt like stepping back in time as we stumbled upon quaint boutiques and hidden courtyards 🙌🙌🙌 In the afternoon, we visited the Musée des Confluences, a fascinating science and anthropology museum located at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. We explored the diverse exhibits, from dinosaur skeletons to cultural artifacts, and learned so much about the world’s natural and human history. We loved wandering around the beautiful rose gardens 🌹 , visiting the free zoo, and even renting a paddleboat on the lake. I would recommend the foie gras with smoked eel and the chicken cooked in hay. We explored the various stalls filled with fresh produce, cheeses, meats, and pastries. We started our visit in the old town, Vieux Lyon, with its narrow, winding streets and Renaissance architecture. The entrance to the impressive Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière was free, and the views of the city from the top were absolutely stunning. ⛪️🌟 We spent some time exploring the Musée des Beaux-Arts, where the €8 entrance fee gave us access to a vast collection of art spanning from ancient times to the modern era. The museum itself, housed in a former abbey, was a marvel. 🎨 After soaking up some culture, we indulged in Lyon’s renowned cuisine at a traditional bouchon. The coq au vin and local wine were delicious! 🍷🥘 In the afternoon, we strolled through the Parc de la Tête d'Or, a beautiful park with a large lake and a botanical garden—perfect for a relaxing walk. 🚶♂️🌳 We also enjoyed exploring the traboules, secret passageways between buildings that date back to the Renaissance. Lyon Coliseum Built in 15 BC during the reign of Emperor Augustine, the adopted son of Julius Caesar, this theater is one of the oldest theaters in France. It has a large theater and a small theater. It can accommodate 10,700 people at its peak. It is a great place to watch the sunset and enjoy the sunshine. Great place. . Strategy tips: 1. The center of the old city is the Saint-Jean Cathedral built in the 12th century. A recommended walking route starts from the church and goes to St. Paul's Church on the north side. 2. There is a viewing platform on the south side of Notre Dame, which overlooks the scenery of Old Lyon. 3. Tickets: Free and open 4. Play time: 2-3 hours recommended 5. #timetotravel The Basilica is located on the Fouvrière hill, overlooking Lyon and there are 3 ways to get there: 1) To take the tram from Vieux Lyon to Fourvière 2) Hike (~18 mins on foot) 3) By car (~4 mins) I took the 1st option going up and the 2nd option down. I would definitely recommend taking the tram because the tram itself is another attraction in lyon (much like the peak tram in HK). There are a lot to see and eat in Lyon. I encountered racist acts unfortunately and that made the trip less enjoyable. Despite the unpleasant experience, I do find the city itself looks beautiful.

The museum provided legendary film sets, costumes, masks, animatronics, whatever tangible created for the sole purpose of their movie. This is a very classic and different hotel in Lyon named: Cour des Loges Lyon, a member of Radisson Individuals and you NEED to stay at least one night there! The decoration is very unique and you immediately feel there is something special. They have a Michelin star restaurant inside the hotel. 😱 The service is excellent and the room smells so good! My recommendation is for you to walk in the neighborhood from the hotel. It is not in the downtown but there is a lot to discover: All the building near to it are classical and beautiful. This hotel is special. It is carefully decorated with the inspiration of the Little Prince history. We felt very special. The room is beautiful. The view? It looks like the Prince view from his castle. It’s amazing to be able to see the river from your window and the pool is huge and heated. The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvire is a Catholic sub-temple in Lyon, France. Combining Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, I chose two non-gothic designs that were unusual at the time. With exquisite mosaics, superb window panes, and St. Joseph's basement, it gives me a powerful visual shock. Whether it's murals, glass, domes and columns, everything is intricately crafted. The Notre Dame de Fourviere actually contains two churches. The church is very gorgeous, and the church is very simple. Overlooking the Lyon peninsula on the top of the Riviera, the Rhone River and the Sane River meet here. It is a very good view point. #celebrateit Firstly the prices are quite reasonable for a 10 inch pizza. We had the chilli shrimp pizza which was quite good but there was only 1 shrimp on each slice. The Orange Glazzed Chicken Piadiana was quite a refreshing take on a sandwich with apples on it. The quality of both items were pretty good. The place is quite aesthetic too, with outdoor and indoor seating. Definitely worth a visit, and oh they have another branch. Best place to celebrate the weekend with friends

Île Barbe is located in the central Saône department and belongs to the Saint-Rambert-l'Île-Barbe district (formerly a commune, annexed in 1963) in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon. Its name comes from the Latin insula barbara, meaning "wild island". A monastery was established on the island in the 5th century AD. It was the first monastery in the Lyon region and one of the oldest in Gaul. Charlemagne built a beautiful library for it. The monastery was sacked several times (in 676, 725, and 945), but came under the rule of Saint Benedict in the 9th century and gradually rose to power until it was destroyed and burned by Protestant troops in 1562. In 1827, a suspension bridge was built across the southern tip of the island, connecting it to the left and right banks of the Saône River and the villages of Saint-Rambert (now the 9th arrondissement of Lyon) and Caluire-et-Cuire. Bab Island is a sacred site in Lyon legend, welcoming curious walkers just as it once welcomed Druids and Christians. Now the island is inhabited by a few people and is a suitable place to live. It consists of a public part for strolling (clay court for playing petanque, large lawn, children's play area) and a private part with two roads (the Saint-Loup bend that runs along the Auberge and the Bas-Port road that leads to the Saône River). The two roads do not intersect, and the Saint-Loup cul-de-sac ends in a private courtyard closed off by a gate.
