The whole trip lasts 40 minutes, 6-10 people per boat. The best lighting for photos is before 11 AM and after 3 PM. 2. To keep up with the schedule, I often held in my urine, which later caused frequent urgency but little output, and a burning sensation when going to the bathroom. A friend said he had the same before and was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. He recommended buying Sanjin tablets, a traditional Chinese medicine with over 50 years of history, specifically for urinary tract infections. Experience summary: When traveling, don’t skip drinking water or hold in urine just to keep up with the itinerary. After all, no one wants a sudden health issue to ruin a carefully planned trip~

Even if you don't go for a swim, simply standing on the shore and gazing at this "lost mirror of Earth" is incredibly healing. 🗺️ Southwest Guangxi Hiking Itinerary Nanning → Longyang Sinkhole → Haokun Lake in Lingyun → Sanmenhai in Bama → Jiudun Skylight in Du'an. A 5-day, 4-night deep dive into the heart of the Karst landscape. 💡 Practical Tips: Some sections of Jianlong Mountain are quite steep, so non-slip hiking boots are a must. The waters in the skylights are complex and deep; always prioritize safety and stay within designated areas. Mountain supplies are limited, so bring plenty of water and dry rations.

Hello friends in Guangxi! 👋 I’m Jessy, a native of Guangxi. Today I want to share a hotel I recently stayed at — Huating Yunqi Hotel (Pingguo High-Speed Rail Station Matoushan Qingxin Park branch). This hotel not only has a great location but also offers exceptionally comfortable service and facilities. Come take a look with me! 😊 🌟 A safe haven next to the high-speed rail station 🏠 Just a 6-minute taxi ride from Pingguo High-Speed Rail Station, it’s super convenient! The hotel is located at No. 1 Xinxing Road, right next to the Pingguo Sports Bureau and Pingguo Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. The surrounding transportation is very accessible. If it’s your first time in Pingguo, don’t worry about getting lost — there’s a bus stop right outside the hotel where you can catch routes 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 15, 16, 18, and 23. You can go anywhere you want. 🚗 🌿 Comfortable family-themed room 👶 This time, I stayed with my baby in a family-themed room. As soon as we entered, I was deeply attracted by the room’s design. The walls are decorated with cute cartoon wallpaper, the bed is soft and cozy, and there’s a small tent, mini table and chairs, and toys specially prepared for kids. My baby was so happy to see these that he immediately started dancing with joy. The room also has a smart HD TV and high-speed Wi-Fi, so we could enjoy modern technology even while relaxing. 📺 🏞️ Beautiful view outside the window 🌄 Standing by the window, you can take in the beautiful scenery of Matoushan Park, with lush trees and fresh air. Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds singing outside makes you feel refreshed. If you like morning exercise, you can take a walk in the park, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the beauty of nature. 🌱 🍽️ A double treat of food and service 🍽️ The hotel’s restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, from authentic Guangxi cuisine to home-style meals, satisfying your taste buds. The breakfast is especially rich and nutritious, giving me and my baby plenty of energy every day. The hotel staff are very friendly, with 24-hour front desk service, so you can get help anytime. The front desk also thoughtfully provides welcome candies and health teas, making you feel right at home. 🍬 Huating Yunqi Hotel is truly a hidden gem — not only is the location excellent, but the facilities are complete and the service is top-notch. Next time I come to Pingguo, I will choose this hotel again. I hope my sharing helps you. Have a great trip in Pingguo! 🌈

Who would have known! I always thought Guilin’s landscape was the ultimate romance of Guangxi🏞️ I’ve been to Guilin several times. The scenery is exquisite and beautiful, but it’s always crowded during holidays, heavily commercialized, and every photo is full of people. I originally thought Guangxi’s landscapes were all pretty much the same, so I came to Baise with a casual mindset and was instantly blown away! Guilin is a carefully crafted landscape bonsai, while Baise is an unfiltered wild ink scroll. No crowds of tourists, no sky-high prices, no over-commercialization—just pure, authentic local life everywhere, with a natural, healing vibe that really touched me deeply😭 🏞️Hidden borderland natural landscapes | every frame is wallpaper-worthy ✨Jingxi E Spring | a real-life paradise As the source of Detian Waterfall, this place holds Guangxi’s gentlest pastoral poetry🌿 The early morning at E Spring is breathtaking! A light mist gently covers the entire lake surface. The clear spring water shimmers with emerald hues, with incredible visibility revealing fish and aquatic plants beneath. A century-old 15-arch ancient bridge spans the lake. The morning mist, green mountains, rice fields, and the bridge’s reflection form a perfect circle. Occasionally, a bamboo raft glides by slowly, with the boatman singing Zhuang folk songs. Local elders quietly fish by the shore. No noisy crowds, only the sounds of wind, water, and birds. Standing on the field path, you instantly understand what peaceful times mean. Golden autumn rice waves surround the lake, blending mountains, water, and farmland into one. Every snapshot looks like an unfiltered ancient-style masterpiece. 💦Tongling Grand Canyon | immersive pristine rainforest secret Completely changed my perception of Guangxi’s landscapes! It’s like stepping into a Jurassic primordial forest🌳 Hundred-meter vertical karst cliffs tower densely. The narrow canyon lets in only a sliver of sunlight. The cliffs are covered with thousand-year-old vines and wild greenery. The air is packed with negative ions, leaving you refreshed after the full hike. The most stunning sight is the 188-meter Tongling waterfall, with water pouring down the cliff in a mighty rush, mist filling the air. On sunny days, you can even catch a double rainbow! Hiking through the water curtain cave and underground river, you’ll see uniquely shaped stalactites. Wild orchids grow everywhere along the path. Compared to Guilin’s repetitive caves, this place’s wildness and tranquility are truly one of a kind. 🌊Quyang Lake | a hidden border glass lake A free hidden gem lake! It rivals popular seaside spots💙 Unlike common man-made lakes, Quyang Lake is a natural karst plateau lake. The water has natural layers like a filter, with mint green near the shore and deep Tiffany blue farther out. Small peak islands scatter across the lake. Taking a boat tour surrounded by mountains, the water is crystal clear. At sunset, the sun’s rays sparkle on the water, the evening breeze is gentle and soothing, and the lake is so quiet you only hear the sound of oars—perfect for zoning out and daydreaming. 🍜Authentic Baise local food | affordable, delicious, no risk Baise’s warmth is hidden in its lively street food, affordable and generous—always a safe bet! 🥢Rolled rice noodles The joy of early mornings comes from 3 rolls of rice noodles for 5 yuan! Thin as cicada wings, the rice sheets wrap fresh vegetables and minced meat, drizzled with secret yellow skin sauce and millet chili. Soft, flavorful, a perfect way to start a genuine Guangxi breakfast. Locals have been eating this since childhood. 🥢Tianyang roast duck noodles Freshly roasted crispy duck with fragrant skin and tender, juicy meat, paired with smooth local rice noodles, pickled bamboo shoots, and secret fermented bean curd sauce. One slurp bursts with rich, savory flavor. The broth is mellow and leaves a lasting impression. 🥭Night market sour snacks & street food The night market atmosphere is at its peak in the evening! Sour snacks made from green mango, pineapple, and starfruit are tangy, spicy, and refreshing to cut through greasiness and whet the appetite. Purple perilla stir-fried snails are spicy and flavorful, served with a bowl of chilled locust flower jelly, sweet and cooling—definitely the ultimate summer treat. These are local favorite hidden stalls packed with locals. ❤️Healed deeply by Baise’s warmth More than the scenery, the local culture and everyday life here leave a lasting impression. In Bama, I met a 92-year-old Zhuang grandmother slowly weaving brocade at the village entrance. When she saw me stop to take photos, she gently offered freshly roasted sweet potatoes—soft, sweet, and fragrant. She was quiet but full of kindness in her eyes. On a rainy day, I took shelter at a small shop by Quyang Lake. The shop owner warmly handed me hot water and patiently shared Baise’s revolutionary history. After the rain stopped, she even pointed me to the best spot to see the rainbow by the lake. The mango vendor at the market was incredibly genuine. After weighing my fruit, he quietly slipped in two extra small mangoes, smiling and saying, “Guests are welcome. Try more of our local fruit.” His honest and sincere attitude was truly heartwarming. ⚠️New traveler tips to avoid pitfalls 1. Baise’s attractions are spread out, and public transport is inconvenient. The best choice is to take the high-speed train to Baise, then rent a car for self-driving. This way, you have freedom and no rush. 2. The best time to visit is April to October, with comfortable weather and less rain. May and June are mango season, and fruit is super cheap. 3. Tongling Grand Canyon is very humid. Be sure to wear non-slip shoes and bring a disposable raincoat to avoid getting wet and slipping. 4. Commercialization is very low throughout. There are no hidden fees, so don’t worry about being overcharged. Just pay as needed. 5. Try to start your day early to avoid the small afternoon crowds. The morning mist over the mountains and water is the most beautiful and photogenic. ✨Random thoughts After seeing Guilin’s refined prosperity, I now prefer Baise’s wild gentleness. It’s not over-marketed or filtered by influencers. It uses the most natural landscapes, the purest hearts, and the most healing everyday life to welcome every visitor from afar. If you’re tired of crowded popular spots, consider visiting Baise. The landscapes are gentle, life is worth living, and all your fatigue will be healed by the breeze here🌿

[Guangxi Tongling Grand Canyon Travel Guide | A Triple Coexistence of the Zhuang People's "Buluotuo" Creation Belief and "Na Culture" Rice Cultivation Ritual Space in the Heart of the Western Guangxi Karst Landscape] Tongling Grand Canyon is not a karst wonder simplified by labels such as "Asia's First Underground River and Waterfall" or "Detian Sister Canyons." It is China's only completely preserved Paleozoic-Mesozoic marine carbonate rock stromatolite basement (including layers of fossils of kaolins and corals) dating back approximately 450-250 million years, and the world's most typical four-dimensional dynamic coupled canyon system of "underground river infiltration—sinkhole collapse—cave connection—waterfall emergence" (the main canyon is 3.8 kilometers long with a vertical drop of 276 meters, and the underground river is 15.2 kilometers long). It is nested within the Zhuang people's "Buluotuo" creation myth system and the "Na Culture" rice cultivation ritual space. The "Living Geological-Hydrological-Ethnographic Three-Dimensional Textbook" built upon the sacred geographical structure of "That Culture" (rice cultivation rituals) is located in the southeastern part of Jingxi City, Baise City, Guangxi Province, in the transitional zone of the karst peak-cluster depression on the southern edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The main canyon was shaped by the combined effects of Himalayan tectonic uplift since the Neogene and Quaternary karstification. More importantly, it does not rely on glass walkways to create illusions, but rather on the interactive logic of Paleozoic marine regression-uplift dynamics, the tangible texture of layered limestone, and the immersive experience of the dual recitation of "Jingxi County Annals, Volume 4" and "Buluotuo Sutra Poems." You can use an AR mirror to scan the "Jingxi County Annals" at Tongling Lake to recreate the "Yunnan-Guangxi Salt Road Caravan Crossing the Lake Map" from 1923, listen to the dual recitation of "Buluotuo Sutra Poems on Rice Cultivation" and "Atlas of Chinese Karst Hydrology" at Nianba Beach, and use a handheld laser rangefinder to measure the diameter of sinkholes in different sections of the canyon trail (Nianba Sinkhole is 286m). (Compared to Tongling Tiankeng (312m vs. Gulong Tiankeng (247m)), complete the "Underground River Rapid Mapping Course" in Gulong Cave, and use a thermal imager at the Buluotuo Altar viewing platform to observe the correlation between the "day-night temperature gradient of the rock mass" and the distribution of Dendrobium officinale... Here, there are no "tourists," only "source tracers." ✅ Best Time to Visit: A Balanced Approach to Climate, Hydrology, and Seasonal Events · Spring (March–April): Temperatures range from 16–26℃, with moderate rainfall (average monthly rainfall of 98mm). This is the "golden period for observing the karst response of Paleozoic stromatolites," and also a prelude to the "Zhuang Ethnic Group's March 3rd Buluotuo Sacrifice" (guided tours of Na culture are available on the first day of the third lunar month); · Autumn (October–November): Clear skies and stable humidity (75%±5%). This is the "sinkhole diameter mapping season" (laser rangefinders and measuring rods are provided; actual measurement error <0.8m); ⚠️ Choose carefully: During the rainy season (May–September, high water level, underground river flow exceeding 18 m³/s, leading to temporary closure of some walkways), winter mornings (December–February, humidity inside the cave reaches 98%, requiring upgraded anti-slip warnings), and the "China Jingxi International Border Culture and Tourism Festival" (mid-October) – while lively, the core area has visitor limits, accommodation prices are 170% higher, and the experience is almost like "passport-based entry." ✅ Transportation: High-speed rail + shuttle bus is the safest option; strict parking controls are required for those driving. 🚄High-speed rail is the preferred option: Jingxi Station → Tongling Grand Canyon Visitor Center (G-series shuttle bus, ¥15, 35 minutes), seamlessly connecting to the scenic area's eco-friendly bus; 🚌Bus shuttle bus: Baise Passenger Transport Center → Jingxi (K501, ¥42, 2h10m), then transfer to K502 to Tongling Grand Canyon (¥8, 45 minutes); 🚗Driving tips: Navigate to "Tongling Grand Canyon Visitor Center P1 Parking Lot", ¥20/day; all vehicles are prohibited from entering the core area (within Tongling Lake/Nianbatan/Gulong Cave/Buluotuo Altar), and must transfer to the scenic area's eco-friendly bus to enter the park; ✅Tips: Download the "Smart Tour Baise" APP to check real-time schedules; follow the "Tongling Grand Canyon" WeChat official account to get daily sinkhole diameter error values, underground river flow index, and the Na Culture guided tour reservation form (updated at 6 am). ✅ Tickets & Reservations: Time-slot reservations are the rule; the "Tracing the Source Experience Ticket" holds a secret. 🎫 All-park pass: ¥125 (includes eco-friendly bus + guided tour + sinkhole surveying package); Children (6-18 years old): ¥62; Children under 6 years old or under 1.2 meters tall are free. ✅ Free Admission Policy (easily overlooked!): ▪ Residents of Jingxi City can enter free of charge year-round with their ID card (including Tongling Grand Canyon, E'quan, Jiuzhou Ancient Town, and Quyang Lake); ▪ Holders of valid "Karst Hydrology Researcher Certificate" or "Buluotuo Culture Inheritor Certificate" can enjoy priority entry and free guided tours; ⏰ Opening Hours: Open year-round (except during red alerts for thunderstorms), 07:50–17:30 daily (last entry at 16:30); ✅ Reservation Requirements: Search for the "Tongling Grand Canyon" WeChat official account → make a real-name reservation 1–7 days in advance (limited to 5500 people per day), enter by scanning your ID card or reservation code; ❗ The "Sinkhole Surveying Class" and "Cultural Guided Tour" programs require on-site QR code scanning to reserve a spot (limited to 20 people per day). It is recommended to reserve a spot as soon as you enter the park. ✅Four Must-Visit Coordinates: Understanding Tongling Grand Canyon Requires Only Four Keys 🔹 Tongling Lake (Hydrological Eye): · A natural lake at the canyon entrance, covering an area of 0.26 square kilometers, with a depth of 12–28 meters. It is the catchment area of the open channel section of an underground river, and fragments of a Qing Dynasty "Yunnan-Guangxi Salt Road Boundary Marker" are found at the lake bottom; · Key Detail: "Underground River Flow Meter," marking the flow difference between the high-water season (June–September) and the low-water season (December–March) (reaching 14.2 m³/s); 🔹 Nianba Beach (Geological Hub): · The world's most typical karst waterfall group, with a main waterfall 188 meters high, ranking among the top in Asia in terms of drop. A giant erosion pool (42 meters in diameter and 15.6 meters deep) has developed at the bottom of the waterfall, and the rock walls expose Carboniferous stromatolites (single layer thickness 0.8–2.4 meters); · Meaning Decoding: "AR Salt Road Reconstruction"—scan the code to see a scene of a Yunnan-Guangxi caravan crossing the river in 1923 (including the placement of pack animals, the location of the fire pit, and interpretation of rock wall carvings); 🔹 Gulong Cave (Ecological Anchor Point): · Explored length 15.2 km, constant temperature inside the cave 18.3℃±0.2℃, featuring four types of sediments: stalagmites, columns, curtains, and flags, with the largest column reaching 36.2 meters in height; · Must-see highlight: "Underground River Velocity Measurement Workshop," providing a current meter and depth sounder to measure flow velocity and water depth at different cross-sections and plot "energy decay curves"; 🔹 Buluotuo Altar (Living Fossil of Faith): · Located at the highest point of the canyon, reconstructed according to the Zhuang Buluotuo faith, featuring a bronze "Buluotuo Statue" (2.16 meters high), bronze drum ritual implements, and a rice stalk totem wall; · Key Experience: "Rice Cultivation Rhythm Calibration Course"—Using an electronic metronome to compare the frequency of the on-site bronze drum (104 bpm) with the standard value (102 ± 2 bpm) in the *Buluotuo Sutra Poem on Rice Cultivation*, a rhythm error curve is plotted. ✅ Classic Tour Routes: Half-Day Intensive Reading × One-Day Immersive Experience × Karst Study Tour 💧 Half-Day Intensive Reading Route (3h): Visitor Center → Tongling Lake → Nianba Beach → Buluotuo Altar; 🕳️ One-Day Immersive Experience Route (7–8h): Visitor Center (Flow Observation) → Tongling Lake (AR Reconstruction) → Nianba Beach (Guided Rock Wall View) → Gulong Cave (Flow Velocity Measurement) → Buluotuo Altar (Rhythm Calibration); 🌱 Karst Study Tour Route (Family-Friendly): Receive a *Mini Tracing the Origins Handbook* → Complete phenological records + stratigraphic observation + flow velocity measurement → Get a stamp and electronic certificate. ✅ Authentic Flavors: Not found at tourist food stalls, but at the traditional stoves of Jingxi Old Town and the old shops of Huadong Town 🍜 Jingxi Old Town: Five-Colored Glutinous Rice (red, blue, purple, yellow, and black, naturally dyed with plant extracts, fragrant and soft), Pan-Fried Duck Blood Sausage (local duck blood + glutinous rice + spices, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside); 🍲 Huadong Town: Sour Soup Fish (wild carp + tomatoes + Litsea cubeba, tangy and appetizing), Zongzi (glutinous rice wrapped in holly leaves + cured meat + mung beans, fragrant and smooth). ✅Accommodation Recommendations: Stay in the core area of Tongling Grand Canyon Town and sleep peacefully by the Guishun River. 🏡Top choices within Tongling Grand Canyon Town: "Tongling·Suyuan Courtyard" (converted from a Zhuang-style stilted building, with a tiered observation corner in the courtyard) and "Buluotuo Courtyard" (at the foot of the altar mountain, offering morning recitations of the Buluotuo Sutra). 🏨Value-for-Money Options: Hotels in Jingxi City (40-minute drive, 35% cheaper), suitable for a two-day trip. ✅ Practical Tips and Civility Guidelines**: ⚠️ Respect the power of nature: Do not climb the Nianbatan rock face, do not throw objects into the underground river, and do not trespass into the core area of the Gulong Cave (infrared monitoring). ✅ There are two "Tongling Stations" throughout the area, providing drinking water, first aid kits, and wheelchair rentals (free of charge). 📱 Download the "Smart Tour Baise" APP to enjoy AR real-scene guided tours, audio guides (including Zhuang language version), and real-time sinkhole diameter error values and underground river flow rate updates. The grandeur of the Tongling Grand Canyon lies not in its depth, but in its very breath—it allows the Paleozoic carbonate rocks, dating back 450 million years, to continuously support the karst canyons of western Guangxi through millions of years of wind and rain; it allows the words of the *Jingxi County Annals* to quietly settle in the moss-covered crevices of the rocks; and it leaves behind a commemorative badge of the Tongling stromatolite rocks, signifying "I have completed the source tracing certification," and a hand-drawn data table on the energy decay of the underground river. When you stand at the Buluotuo Altar, watching the morning light spill over Nianba Beach like an ancient sea retreat mark, and hearing the melodious bronze drum chants echoing from the depths of the Ancient Dragon Cave… at that moment, you touch not only the beauty of western Guangxi, but also the vibrant breath and pulse of the rice-growing civilization of southern China. The greatness of Tongling Grand Canyon lies not in its depth, but in its very breath—it allows the Paleozoic carbonate rocks, dating back 450 million years, to continuously support the karst canyons of western Guangxi through millions of years of wind and rain; it allows the words of the *Jingxi County Annals* to quietly settle in the moss-covered crevices of the rocks; and it leaves behind a commemorative badge of Tongling stromatolite rock, signifying "I have completed the source tracing certification," and a hand-drawn table of underground river energy decay data.

Honest truth❗ Tongtian River is truly stunning! But I sincerely don’t recommend going in August or September😭 Tongtian River has taken the internet by storm. Who wouldn’t be tempted to visit! Green mountains, clear streams, and secret forest valleys create a natural Journey to the West vibe. The water is crystal clear, the forest coverage is dense, making it a perfect natural summer retreat. The original photos are like healing landscape masterpieces🌿 But! As someone who has personally tested and experienced all the pitfalls, here’s an honest truth no one dares to say: Tongtian River is beautiful, but don’t blindly rush there in August or September! The filtered, beautiful photos online are all carefully edited shots taken in good weather and off-peak times. If you visit in August or September as an ordinary traveler, you’re likely to face: intense sun, long lines, pitfalls, and huge disappointment! After reading this real, ad-free guide, you’ll avoid 99% of the traps and know exactly when to visit Tongtian River✅ The honest truth | Why we strongly advise against visiting Tongtian River in August or September? No exaggeration or badmouthing, just real experiences from visitors. Every word is the honest truth! ❶ Scenery disappointment! Filters shattered, beauty greatly reduced Many think Tongtian River looks best in summer and autumn, but it’s actually the opposite! In August, everything is lush green with a single, flat tone. The entire canyon is covered in dense green forest with no light and shadow contrast or color layers. Photos look plain and lack the cool, ethereal vibe seen in popular pictures. Early September is an awkward gap! Summer scenery fades, autumn hasn’t arrived yet. The forest starts to yellow and wither. Due to high summer and autumn temperatures, the water level drops significantly. The once clear and lively river becomes shallow and narrow, with exposed rocks on some shoals, ruining the atmosphere. Tongtian River’s truly legendary beauty isn’t in summer! The peak is in late October to November. The forest is ablaze with color, red leaves cover the mountains, clear water reflects the colorful trees, and the misty canyon has a fairy-tale atmosphere that’s both cool and healing. Every shot looks like wallpaper-worthy scenery! ❷ Peak season overcrowding! 2-hour lines, 10 minutes of fun August and September are the ultimate peak season for rafting and water scenic spots, and Tongtian River is packed! Whether it’s a weekend or weekday, the popular plank walkways, viewing platforms, and rafting all have long lines. Popular photo spots have at least 1-hour waits, rafting lines start at 1.5 hours, all under the blazing sun, leaving you drenched in sweat with a terrible experience. The mountain paths are narrow and crowded with people everywhere. It’s impossible to quietly enjoy the scenery or take photos without people. What should be a relaxing mountain and water trip turns into a crowded market scene! ❸ Experience disappointment! Rafting pitfalls, huge letdown 90% of visitors in August and September get badly disappointed by the rafting. The online hype about thrilling, high-energy rafting is just a gimmick! Water levels are unstable in peak season. Most exciting steep river sections are closed, leaving only gentle slopes with almost no fun. Many sections require you to paddle yourself, which is very tiring! Don’t blindly trust the “guaranteed rescue” claims! Some drop points have water depths of 4 to 5 meters. During peak season, the fast currents make capsizing and falling into the water very likely. Even with safety staff, it causes great psychological stress, especially for beginners and families with kids❌ Also, water fights run wild in August! Water guns are everywhere, making the area noisy and chaotic, completely lacking the peaceful mountain and water vibe. Water guns and waterproof gear sold in the park are overpriced and poor value, a total money trap! ❹ Weather torture! Intense sun and heat + extreme temperature swings + sudden rain The special canyon terrain of Tongtian River makes August and September oppressively hot! The dense forest blocks airflow, making the perceived temperature much higher than in the city. UV rays are very strong. Even with shade, you can get sunburned, peel, and feel like you’re in a sauna within half a day! The day-to-night temperature difference is extreme! Hot and sweaty in short sleeves during the day, then the canyon cools rapidly at dusk, and the stream water is icy cold. Especially if you enter after 2 PM, the sun sets during the second half of the rafting, and the valley becomes chilly instantly. Wearing wet clothes in the cold wind makes it easy to catch a cold. Summer and autumn are also the rainy season in the mountains, with very unstable weather. Clear skies can suddenly turn into heavy rain, causing river levels to rise and roads to become slippery and muddy. Mountain paths become soft and slippery, and areas near water are very dangerous, greatly increasing the risk of accidents! ❺ Peak season prices skyrocket! Very low value August and September are the super peak season for Tongtian River, with heavy price surges! 🏠 Accommodation: Nearby ordinary guesthouses and farm stays cost just over 100 yuan in the off-season but double in peak season. The environment is average and rooms are hard to book. Last-minute bookings usually only get the worst rooms. 🍜 Food: Snacks and simple meals inside the park are heavily overpriced. Instant noodles, cold drinks, and home-style dishes cost twice as much, taste average, and offer very poor value. A simple meal costs 70 to 80 yuan per person, a typical peak season rip-off! 🎒 Hidden costs: Parking is tight and shuttle buses have long lines. Many essential small items can only be bought at high prices inside the park, making the whole trip expensive and frustrating. No-brainer collection | Best time to visit Tongtian River ✅ Golden peak season: October to early November (highly recommended!) Autumn scenery is stunning! Mountains covered in red leaves, clear water, morning mist. Fewer people, stable weather, no intense sun or heat, prices drop. Great for photos, comfortable hiking, full atmosphere. Everyone should go without hesitation! ✅ Niche comfortable season: May to June early summer Fresh greenery, abundant water, pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds. Perfect for hiking, relaxing, breathing fresh air, and a great summer escape. ❌ Strongly avoid: All of August and September Dull scenery, crowded and hot, rafting disappointments, inflated prices, unstable weather. If you care about experience, photo quality, and value, avoid this period! Must-go in August or September? Essential pitfall avoidance guide If your holiday is only in August or September and can’t be changed, keep this lifesaving guide! ✨ Streamlined itinerary (avoid useless lines) Don’t follow the crowd to all spots, focus on a relaxed and worry-free trip. Forest trail entrance → popular waterside plank walkway → main canyon viewing platform → shoal photo spot (skip rafting) → return Try to enter before 8 AM! Avoid afternoon crowds and intense sun, enjoy the peaceful morning forest alone. ✨ Rafting pitfall tips 1. Never buy overpriced water guns or waterproof bags in the park. Bring your own! 2. Children under 1.3 meters tall are not recommended for full rafting. Height checks are strict and safety is low. 3. Don’t believe the “full thrill” hype. Stay calm and focus on playing in the water, not thrills. 4. Wear non-slip creek shoes, never flip-flops! Very easy to slip and lose them. ✨ Clothing & essentials ▪️ Clothing: quick-dry clothes + light jacket, convenient for water play and temperature changes. ▪️ Protection: high SPF sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, insect repellent (lots of bugs in the forest). ▪️ Extras: disposable raincoat, full set of dry clothes, waterproof phone bag. ✨ Money-saving tips for food and lodging 1. Don’t eat full meals inside the park. Bring snacks and water, eat in town on the way back for affordable, authentic food. 2. Book accommodation 3 days in advance. Avoid guesthouses inside the park, choose nearby towns for better value. 3. Refuse all park upsells to avoid hidden costs. Finally, some heartfelt thoughts🌿 The beauty of Tongtian River is truly a healing secret hidden deep in the mountains. Quiet canyons, flowing streams, dense forests make it a niche and pristine mountain and water paradise. But beauty is never the same all year round. Tongtian River in August and September doesn’t live up to its reputation. Crowds, heat, disappointments, and inflated prices will only leave you disappointed. True travelers wait for the deep autumn Tongtian River. Waiting for red leaves to cover the valley, waiting for gentle mist to drift over the river. Avoiding crowds and peak season pitfalls is the only way to truly appreciate the gentle charm of this landscape✨

Today I hiked an ancient mountain trail lined with stone steps. Legend has it that this was once the main route for people to travel in and out of the mountains. The surface of the stone steps has been worn smooth and shiny by the footsteps of travelers over centuries, now covered in patches of dark green moss. Holding onto the ancient stone railings along the path, I slowly made my way up. It felt as if I could look through the polished stones and see merchants carrying heavy loads and hurried travelers walking along this trail one after another in the old days. The ancient trees by the trail have stood here for hundreds of years, with massive trunks that take several people to wrap their arms around. Red wishing ribbons tied by people from the past dangle from the branches, swaying gently in the wind. I stopped to rest at an old stone pavilion halfway up the trail. The pavilion walls still bear poems carved by people centuries ago. Although the characters are now blurred, I could still feel the sentiments of those who hiked here back then. Sitting on the stone bench in the pavilion, taking in the cool breeze sweeping through, I felt as if I were sharing the exact same mountain wind in the very same spot with a stranger from hundreds of years ago. This magical sense of connection across time and space filled my heart with an indescribable awe. It turns out that hiking is never just about walking with your feet—you can also touch the forgotten times hidden deep within the wilderness through these ancient ruins. This profound experience of conversing with history is something a typical leisure trip could never offer.

When it comes to Guangxi’s landscapes, many people first think of Guilin and Yangshuo, but often miss the hidden gem of western Guangxi — Baise. Here lies the 613-meter-deep “Heartbeat of the Earth” sinkhole, emerald-green alpine lakes, an 188-meter cascading canyon waterfall, and pastoral secret spots with ancient bridges reflecting in springs. June is the peak water season, with lush green forests and clear rivers, no crowded tourists, and driving through the karst peak forests is full of surprises. In three days, from the red old town to the earth’s core wonder, then to the mountain and water countryside, you’ll fully experience the shock and gentleness of Zhuangland✨ Day 1 Red Town Stroll: From Century-Old Arcade Buildings to Local Night Snacks In the morning, first check in at the Baise Uprising Memorial Hall🚩, a red landmark built on Yinglong Mountain, grand and solemn. Walk slowly up the long Red Flag Staircase, with red flags fluttering on both sides, and from the top, overlook the Youjiang River flowing through the city, creating a full atmosphere. The immersive exhibition inside restores the turbulent years, allowing you to learn about revolutionary history and take high-quality photos. For lunch, head to Liang’s Stewed Dishes nearby; a bowl of old-fashioned nourishing soup warms the stomach and is a daily flavor for locals. In the afternoon, stroll along Jiefang Street, a century-old arcade street stretching along the Youjiang Riverbank. The Nanyang-style arcade buildings are weathered and rustic, bearing traces of time. The Guangdong East Guild Hall in the street features exquisitely carved beams and bricks, a highlight of Lingnan architecture. At dusk, walk to Riverside Park to watch the Youjiang River flow gently; locals swim and stroll by the riverbank, full of lively local life. At night, head straight to Wenming Street for food🍲. The old Ye’s Snack Shop’s seafood porridge is a signature dish, with a thick, fresh porridge base made from shrimp heads, paired with tender duck feet — so delicious you’ll want seconds. Street snacks like locust flower jelly and vegetable cake are perfect for cooling down; the red sugar water-soaked chewy noodles are refreshingly cool, relieving the day’s heat. Day 2 Earth’s Core and Mountain Lakes: Sinkhole Abyss Meets Emerald Lakes In the morning, drive to Leye to unlock the world-class wonder of the Dashiwai Sinkhole Cluster⛰️. Known as the “World Sinkhole Museum,” it has 28 sinkholes, with the core Dashiwai Sinkhole reaching a vertical depth of 613 meters. At the bottom lies a 96,000-square-meter underground primeval forest where ancient plants like tree ferns quietly grow. Standing on the Yunhai Tianzhou Glass Viewing Platform, a 34-meter-long transparent platform suspended in the air, you look down into the abyss. The mountain wind howls up from the bottom, breathtaking enough to hold your breath. After rain in the early morning, you can often see the sea of clouds rolling, with the sinkhole appearing and disappearing in the mist like a fairyland. Those afraid of heights can use the regular viewing platform to still appreciate the sinkhole’s grandeur. At noon, enjoy a bowl of authentic rice noodles in Lingyun County, adding sour bamboo shoots freely for a tangy and appetizing flavor. In the afternoon, head straight to Haokun Lake💚, praised by China National Geography as “Emerald on Earth” and a secret spot visited twice by Zhang Xinyu. The karst peak forest surrounds a pool of emerald-green water, as rich in color as melted jade. On sunny days, mountain reflections on the lake surface look like an oil painting. To capture panoramic shots, navigate to Nongwaitun Basketball Court. Those with good stamina can hike about ten minutes to the top of Yuweng Pavilion; lazy travelers can pay 20 yuan to ride a villager’s motorcycle up the mountain. From the pavilion, overlook the winding lake bays and scattered peak forests, with 360° unobstructed views of lake and mountain scenery. At sunset, shoot silhouettes against the backlight for a full atmospheric effect. At night, return to the city for must-have jam barbecue🍢. The secret plum jam brushed on charcoal-grilled meat balances the greasiness with sweet and sour fruit aroma. The mountain-separated meat is tender and springy, vegetables are refreshing, and every bite refreshes your perception of barbecue. Paired with cold beer, it wipes away travel fatigue. Day 3 Canyon Waterfall: Ancient Bridge and Clear Spring Meet Pastoral Poetry In the morning, head to Jingxi and enter Tongling Grand Canyon🌿. This “most beautiful crack” on Earth combines tropical rainforest, caves, underground rivers, and waterfalls. June’s high water season is its peak beauty. Walk along the plank road down to the valley bottom, where ancient vines entwine old trees, like traveling through the Land of Oz. At the canyon’s end, the 188.6-meter-high Tongling Waterfall plunges from a cliff, roaring through the valley. The mist sprays everywhere, and standing on the viewing platform instantly cools the temperature by 10°C, a natural air conditioner. The brave can wear raincoats to walk through the water curtain cave behind the waterfall, feeling cool and thrilling water droplets hitting you. On sunny days, you might see a rainbow halo, full of fairy-like charm. Remember to bring a change of clothes as the mist easily wets your clothes. At noon, eat rolled rice noodles🌯 in Jingxi city. Thin translucent rice sheets wrap minced meat, wood ear mushrooms, and bean sprouts, drizzled with yellow skin sauce or lemon sauce for a tangy and appetizing taste. One bite and you can’t stop. In the afternoon, head to Equan Spring💧, one of the three famous springs in Southwest China and the source of Detian Waterfall. The spring water is crystal clear, with fish and algae visible. The 15-hole Qing Dynasty ancient bridge lies quietly over the clear waves, with green bamboo shading a waterwheel turning slowly, full of the gentleness of Jiangnan countryside. In June mornings, mist often rises, making the ancient bridge appear and disappear in the fog. Bamboo rafts glide on the water, rippling like a flowing ink painting. Spend 10 yuan to ride a villager’s bamboo raft slowly through the spring; the breeze mixed with water vapor brushes your face, slowing down your pace. At dusk, return with a camera full of beautiful photos. The three-day trip is both thrilling and relaxing, packing all the mountain, water, and local life of Baise into your pocket. 🍜 Baise Must-Try Flavor List · Rolled Rice Noodles: Thin and chewy rice sheets filled with stuffing, drizzled with yellow skin sauce for a tangy and appetizing taste, a breakfast staple in Jingxi. · Seafood Porridge: A classic from Wenming Street’s old brand, with a thick porridge base full of shrimp freshness, paired with duck feet for an unbeatable warm flavor. · Jam Barbecue: Baise’s unique plum jam grilling method, balances greasiness and enhances aroma; mountain-separated meat and pork belly are must-orders. · Old Friend Stir-Fried Rice Vermicelli: Chewy vermicelli with old friend sauce that’s sour, spicy, salty, and fragrant, increasingly addictive, authentic Guangxi flavor. · Locust Flower Jelly & Vegetable Cake: Street cooling treats soaked in red sugar water, refreshing and relieving greasiness, a few yuan brings happiness. 💡 June Travel Tips 1. Transportation: Baise attractions are scattered across Leye, Jingxi, and Lingyun counties, quite far apart. Strongly recommend renting a car for self-driving; the mountain roads are scenic and parking in county towns is convenient. 2. Accommodation: For city touring, stay near Jiefang Street or Wenming Street for easy access to food and shopping; for the sinkhole, stay in Leye County Town; for canyon and spring, stay in Jingxi City for convenience. 3. Sun and Mosquito Protection: June in Baise is hot with strong sun exposure; bring hats, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen; mosquitoes are common near canyons and lakes, so bring insect repellent and anti-itch cream. 4. Pitfalls to Avoid: Don’t go up the mountain at Haokun Lake on foggy days due to poor visibility and slippery roads; the water curtain cave in Tongling Grand Canyon will get you wet, so bring raincoats and change of clothes; ignore roadside vendors selling local specialties. 5. Price Tips: Baise is affordable; rice noodles cost just a few yuan per bowl. No need to crowd popular internet-famous shops; local old shops with many locals have the most authentic flavors.

Have you ever thought that in the western border of Guangxi, there is a seriously underrated treasure town? It’s not as famous as Guilin, yet it boasts world-class sinkhole clusters, Asia’s largest transnational waterfall, and karst secret spots that are a hundred times more beautiful than photos; it is the birthplace of the first milestone in Comrade Deng Xiaoping’s revolutionary career, with red revolutionary spirit flowing through every street and alley; it is also known as the "Hometown of Mangoes in China," where the summer breeze carries the sweet fragrance of mangoes. This place is Baise. At first glance, it’s a breathtaking natural wonder. If you think Guangxi’s landscape is only Guilin, Baise will completely overturn your perception. The Leye Dashiwei Sinkhole Cluster, the largest sinkhole cluster in the world, offers a stunning view from the Yunhai Tianzhou Glass Observation Deck, where the bottomless pits look like the earth’s wide-open eyes, leaving you speechless. In the Tongling Grand Canyon, the 188-meter Tongling Waterfall rushes down from the cliff top, surrounded by primeval forests that block out the sun, with an abundance of negative oxygen ions—walking in feels like stepping into a natural air-conditioned room. Then there’s Haokun Lake, known as the "Nam Co of Guangxi," with water as blue as a giant gem, reflecting the karst peak forest, making every snapshot a wallpaper-worthy masterpiece. Even more amazing, many of Baise’s secret spots remain free to visit—Longyang Sinkhole, Quyang Lake, Sandieling Waterfall... On weekends, you won’t hear crowds, only the chirping of wild birds accompanying you. At second glance, it’s a red faith that transcends time and space. Baise is a city with backbone. In 1929, Deng Xiaoping and Zhang Yunyi launched the Baise Uprising here, shaking the southern sky, and the Red Seventh Army’s flag has since flown on both banks of the Youjiang River. Today, the Baise Uprising Memorial Park is a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The 314 steps at the monument’s entrance symbolize the spirit of the Baise Uprising passed down through generations. But Baise is no longer just a "display board + explanation" traditional mode—the former headquarters of the Red Seventh Army offers AR glasses for smart tours, allowing visitors to "travel back" to the fiery years; the memorial regularly holds "Two Studies, One Recitation" activities, where visitors sing red songs and passionately recite "Beloved China," creating a solemn and enthusiastic atmosphere. During this year’s May Day holiday, the memorial park received 184,000 visitors—here, red culture is no longer cold historical data but a tangible, passionate memory. At third glance, it’s the vibrant and fragrant Zhuang ethnic culture. Baise is one of Guangxi’s cities with the highest proportion of ethnic minorities, including the Zhuang, Yao, Miao, and seven other indigenous groups living here for generations. Jingxi Old Town is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Embroidered Balls," with colorful embroidered balls hanging in front of every household, and you can personally experience this millennia-old intangible cultural heritage. This year’s "March 3rd" festival in Tianyang District’s Tianzhou Ancient City featured the "Zhuangdi" bonfire party that went viral—traditional Zhuang mountain songs mixed with electronic beats, young people holding hands dancing around the bonfire, a wonderful fusion of ethnic style and trendy vibes. If you catch the Dragon Boat Festival, the dragon boat races on the Youjiang River are thrilling, with 22 teams cutting through the waves on a 500-meter straight course, while the nearby food street sizzles with grilled skewers, filling the air with the scent of local life. At fourth glance, it’s the taste of Baise on your palate. Coming to Baise and not eating is a wasted trip. Baise mangoes are a must-try—the city has nearly 1.4 million mu of mango plantations, making it the largest mango production base in China. In June, the wind in the Youjiang River Valley carries the scent of mangoes. There are also Jingxi’s intangible heritage foods: colorful glutinous stuffed chicken, Jingxi rice dumplings, momie... every bite is a thousand-year-old Zhuang flavor tradition. At night, Baise’s barbecue stalls are a hidden gem, paired with the local specialty "suan ye"—a sweet and sour snack made from pickled mango and radish, which refreshes and whets the appetite. Baise is worth a special trip. Some say Baise is "sweet in fruit, sweet in people, sweet in heart." I want to say Baise is more "scenic, historic, and full of passion." It doesn’t compete or boast, yet quietly hides world-class landscapes, passionate red memories, vibrant ethnic customs, and the lively local atmosphere within its 36,300 square kilometers. Stop only focusing on Guilin and Beihai. This summer, buy a ticket to Baise, escape the heat in 26°C mountain waters, scream atop sinkholes, shed tears at red revolutionary sites, and feast in mango groves. Baise is waiting for you.
