Gu Long Bao, a steamed bun that's not just soft dough
#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck
#GayInTheKitchen Today, we will take you to eat steamed buns that have been passed down from generation to generation at the shop “Gu Long Bao Artisan Bun Shop 古笼包” or “Gu Long Bao Ancient Steamed Buns” at the Song Wat branch. Let me tell you, if you walk around this area and don’t stop by, it’s a huge mistake! 🍞💨✨

🥢 Gu Long Bao Song Wat — Steamed buns that are not just soft dough, but are the soul of the tea route!
Hello, Mom! The other day, I stopped by the old town of Song Wat with my food-loving friend who knows me. She dragged me to Gu Long Bao with a serious face that said, “You, this steamed bun shop is a cultural heritage passed down through the mouth.” I was like, what the heck… but oh well, let’s try it — and Mom!! She screamed with the word “delicious!” Not because it was spicy, but because it was… Good for real, no kidding 🤤🔥
🥮 The origin of “Gu Long Bao” that didn’t come easy
This shop was started by a Chinese family who intended to continue the recipe for “ancient Chinese bao” that emphasizes soft, fluffy dough, fragrant without having to add flavoring, and stuffed with fillings in every piece! The name “Gu Long Bao” literally translates to “ancient buns in bamboo cages,” which refers to the traditional steamer for steaming buns. The shop emphasizes meticulousness in both the dough making process, fermentation, and steaming process, which takes time and is like a slow bar in the bao industry. 😌🍃

📍A location that is good for the heart, easy to walk around and take fun photos
The shop is located in Song Wat, an old neighborhood that hipsters, art lovers, and foodies must check in to. Those who walk from Yaowarat to Khlong Ong Ang will find it very easy to pass by.
🕘 Opening-Closing Time:
Open every day from 10:00 - 18:00.
(Recommended to come at noon because some items sell out very quickly)
📍 Location: Click to see Google Maps here.
🚶♀️ Getting there:
• MRT Wat Mangkon Station and walk for about 10 minutes.
• Or you can take a taxi/tuk-tuk. It has another kind of charm.
🚗 Parking: It's a bit difficult to find parking in this area. We recommend parking at Leng Noei Yi Temple and walking a little. It's also very chic.

🍽️ The bun menu that we highly recommend
1. Chashu Pork Bun — This is the highlight! Japanese-style stewed pork that melts in your mouth. The rich flavor contrasts with the soft dough. It's really good.
2. Minced Pork and Salted Egg Bun — Juicy minced pork filling with tempting salted egg. Salty, rich, and smooth, mom.
3. Mixed vegetable buns — For health-conscious people, the flavor is light but fragrant with sesame. Eat it and feel good without feeling guilty.
4. Red bean buns — Not too sweet, sweet and smooth like a gentlewoman.
Prices start at only 30-45 baht/bun! It's a very cute price when compared to the quality and care taken in each bun.

☕ The tea-sipping and photo corner is just as cool.
There is a small seating area in the shop where you can sit and eat with hot Chinese tea. It feels like you are in a 90s inn in a Chinese movie. It's so chic. If you like classic Chinese aesthetics, this is the place to go! 📸🧧
⸻
🧧 It feels like you are eating snacks with your grandma, but ten times cooler.
We want to say that... Gulongbao is a "must-try" in the Song Wat area. Because they don't just sell steamed buns, they sell "feelings" and "culture" through simple but very memorable food.
Whether you come to eat alone and chill, chat with friends, or bring your foreign lover to see the world, it's all suitable! This place combines deliciousness and culture in one word!
