#Aoraki / Mount Cook Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
In 2023, I visited the 9 most beautiful places
I've already stepped on the pitfalls for everyone, feel free to set off!
Picture 1 Queenstown: The evening at Deer Park Heights is really too romantic! It's worthy of being the most beautiful farm in Queenstown.
Picture 2 Donghou Top: The place I visited three times this year, it's my top 1 hiking route around Beijing in my heart.
Picture 3 Mount Cook: I really love Mount Cook, I also successfully proposed here this year, leaving our story under Mount Cook.
Picture 4 Songzan's view of Songzanlin Temple: Every window of Songzan is like a painting, and it's incredibly beautiful!
Picture 5 Four Girls Mountain: The beauty of Changchuan after the snow is overwhelming, you won't feel tired at all in the hiking scenery.
Picture 6 Baxian Dun: The first famous mountain on the sea, combining 'mountain, sea, rock' in one, the sunrise at the seaside is amazing.
Picture 7 Bottomless Lake: What does it feel like to contract a whole snow mountain lake alone, stay one night at the Bottomless Lake and you will know.
Picture 8 Banjie Gully: The best autumn scenery around Beijing, this year also started the first hike of autumn here.
Picture 9 G214 Old National Road: From south to north across three seasons, satisfying all fantasies about snow mountains and autumn at once.
Campervanning New Zealand
These extraordinary NZ scenes are forever burned into my mind. This’s the essence of what makes a campervan road trip in NZ such a worthwhile life experience. The feeling of freedom isn’t just a stereotype found in travel novels but it’s real. New Zealand is a truly beautiful and unique country that should be on anyone’s bucket-list.

Snippets Of Attractions In Christchurch
New Zealand is a dream destination for many who loves the outdoors, mountain backdrops and instaworthy shots. There are 2 islands one in the North Island and one in the south island.
Christchurch is a place located in the south and caters more for the adventure seekers who loves beautiful hikes, overlooking the mountain backdrops and also the many quiet soothing scenic walks.
There are a few popular attraction in Christchurch are the gorgeous looking Mountcook and Lake Tekapo, The wanaka tree with the backdrop of the lake, the tasman glacier walk and many more.
Before heading to Christchurch, it is recommended to plan your roadtrip to ensure you travel plans are efficient and you do not spend too much time on the road.

On a quiet night, I wandered around the wild field and the southern light bursted out at that moment fur away behind the Mt.Cook
Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand,it is also a favourite challenge for mountain climbers.
A must-experience checklist for New Zealand, only after these can you say you've been to New Zealand
🌟 Highlights: Spectacular fjords and glaciers, beautiful and magical beaches, indigenous Maori culture, and fairy-tale-like lakes and mountains... If you're in the mood, add a dash of courage, and you can challenge yourself at the birthplace of bungee jumping. This is New Zealand, the 'Middle-earth' of the movie The Hobbit, a must-visit destination on countless people's travel lists.
❤ Recommended Reason: Stargazing in the Aoraki Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve, bathing in the brilliant Milky Way of the Southern Hemisphere! New Zealand's South Island is designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve, the largest of its kind in the world. The Dark Sky Reserve includes most of the area around Tekapo and Mount Cook, and is rated as 'one of the best stargazing sites on Earth.' Have a spiritual conversation with the universe under the clear and pristine dark sky, and feel this unparalleled romance and the stunningly beautiful scenery that seems like a fairyland.
👍 Most Recommended: Lake Tekapo
The first image many people recognize of New Zealand is the Church of the Good Shepherd bathed in starlight under a dazzling starry sky, with clusters of lupins blooming quietly. Lake Tekapo, with its high altitude and dry climate, boasts the highest sunshine rate in New Zealand, making it especially suitable for stargazing.
👍 Most Recommended: Queenstown
Queenstown is not only a paradise for extreme sports but also an easy place to stargaze. In the evening, take the Queenstown Skyline Gondola to the top of Queenstown Hill, and you can overlook the town of Queenstown as the lights come on. An inadvertent glance upward reveals a sky bathed in brilliant stars.
👍 Most Recommended: Mount Cook
Besides the popular stargazing by Lake Tekapo, many photographers also recommend Mount Cook for stargazing. Mount Cook is a paradise for hikers, with multiple hiking trails that take you into the glaciers and snow-capped mountains of Mount Cook. Far from towns and with less light pollution, the majestic Mount Cook makes the starry sky atmosphere even more serene and spectacular.
👍 Most Recommended: Stewart Island
Officially rated as the world's fifth International Dark Sky Reserve and the second island reserve. It is uninhabited and closest to Antarctica, so the sky is exceptionally pure.
Pure New Zealand, the last sanctuary on Earth
May is autumn there, and it's the time when nature's colors are most abundant. There are too many impressive places, and at night, I saw the Milky Way and shooting stars 🌠. I could even identify Sagittarius and Scorpio ♏ with the naked eye. This experience was truly amazing. Taking a helicopter ride over the Cook Mountain glaciers to overlook the Cook Mountain Range and the water system, one can't help but marvel at the grandeur of nature. The scenery here is beautiful no matter how you capture it; the photos are stunning straight out of the camera without any need for post-processing.
Just arrived | What to bring for a trip to New Zealand, with a clothing guide attached
I've prepared a detailed list for everyone, so you're sure to be prepared‼️
-
🧳Things to prepare:
1️⃣Disposable items‼️ Hotels in New Zealand don't have toothbrushes, slippers, or combs, and some small hotels in towns don't even have conditioner, so you must bring your own
2️⃣A three-plug power strip, which can be used directly when brought here
3️⃣Almost all places accept UnionPay cards, and even WeChat and Alipay
ATMs in Queenstown can directly withdraw cash with UnionPay cards (savings cards), and the exchange rate is friendly
4️⃣A water bottle, because mineral water in New Zealand is super expensive, basically 3 NZD per bottle. New Zealand doesn't have hot water, tap water can be drunk directly (but I don't recommend it, it's better to boil it before drinking)
5️⃣Sun protection!! Whether it's sunscreen or physical sun protection, you need to prepare, it's really too sunny folks😭
Sun hats, sunglasses🕶️ are essential for taking pictures, otherwise you can't open your eyes👀
6️⃣A backpack🎒, keep it low-key, the security in the North Island is not as good as the South Island, you know what I mean
7️⃣For short-term travel, it's cheaper to buy a SIM card in China for trips of about ten days, 🍑 treasure has them
8️⃣Some common medicines, such as motion sickness medicine, domestic flights on Air New Zealand are also super bumpy, totally scary🥹 If you're not used to the local food and water, bring some stomach medicine and anti-diarrhea medicine, that's OK
-
👚Dressing guide:
1️⃣Although it's summer in New Zealand now, the temperature difference between day and night is very large, especially in places like Mount Cook, so you must bring a windbreaker‼️
Or a thin down jacket, which is convenient to put on and take off
2️⃣The temperature is very comfortable when the sun is out
South Island recommendation: sweatshirt, long sleeves, brightly colored sweater (not too thick) At noon in town, you can wear a skirt, it won't be cold
North Island recommendation: shirts, skirts are all okay, it's obviously much hotter than the South Island, early summer outfits in China are totally 👌
⚠️Hiking shoes, comfortable pants are a must! This is very important
⚠️Strapless tops, short sleeves can be brought as inner wear, you can take off the jacket when taking pictures
I've put some pictures for your reference
3️⃣No need to bring too many different types of clothes, mix and match can also produce good photos, and there are laundry rooms to wash clothes👚
Of course, shopping here is also very convenient, if you really have no clothes to wear, you can buy them on the spot, the price is still 👌
New Zealand | Pure New Zealand~
Pure New Zealand~. You should always make a trip to New Zealand, to feel the breeze of the South Pacific Ocean, gaze at the starry sky in Queenstown🌃, taste the famous giant burger, and see the Cook Mountain glaciers... There's so much beauty waiting for you to experience it yourself~
'Brave people enjoy the world first' 5hours snow mountain hiking challenge
Compared to the beautiful scenery of New Zealand, I think what is more memorable is the outdoor project. A day of challenging the limit, shooting the starry sky until three o'clock in the morning the night before, and hurriedly eating a few biscuits in the morning and driving more than 100 kilometers to hike the Cook Mountain Glacier. Because I was not addicted to glacier hiking for three hours in Iceland before, I specifically chose the five-hour Hard mode this time...
.
The three-hour and five-hour hiking projects are not only different in time, but also different in equipment. The five-hour hike requires more professional hiking equipment, including snow shoes, trekking poles, safety harnesses and other equipment. Led by the ATG guide, the six of us were connected by a safety rope and walked on the snow in snow shoes.
.
You can take a helicopter or a glider up the mountain. Because the altitude of flight and hiking is high, you can see many hanging glaciers on both sides of the canyon and the twin peaks of New Zealand - Cook Mountain and Tasman Mountain. You can vaguely see the blue ice cave on the snow mountain, and the snow underneath is glowing blue. The guide said that the snow on the mountain can be eaten. I couldn't help but tasted it. It was light and tasteless, like a shaved ice without sugar.
.
Lying on the snow and looking at the rolling hills around, the dazzling sunlight made me close my eyes, and I really wanted to sleep. The snow mountain hiking under the scorching sun is very hot, it is recommended to bring more water. The beauty seen by the naked eye during the snow mountain hike cannot be captured by the camera, and this experience is even more precious. For friends who like outdoor hiking, I recommend you to experience it!
Mount Cook - Mount Cook, New Zealand
A day like a charging female warrior, full of vitality, heading to Kea Point & Tasman Lake. The creamy white lake water is worth putting on running shoes, stepping over the gravel mountain road, climbing all the way up, walking to the top, overlooking the intoxicating lake view, and there is a cool breeze to help cool down. Comfortable ski~
Preparation before boarding, weighing, circling, under the guidance of the captain, we boarded the helicopter🚁, fastened the seat belt, put on the headphones, everything is ready, start with excitement~
A circle of flight, reaching the top of the snow mountain, overlooking the magnificent Mount Cook, the scene of the snow, slightly revealing the original appearance of the mountain, there is a kind of leisurely feeling of the southern mountain
Mom said, just read this before going to New Zealand
I stayed in New Zealand for a week and really didn't want to leave... I saw all kinds of beautiful scenery, pure starry sky, blue glaciers, flowers all over the mountains, dreamy and magical firefly caves, various magnificent landscapes of forests, wilderness, snow mountains and fjords, 9-11 months are the spring and summer of the southern hemisphere in New Zealand, just the opposite of our autumn here, the weather is slightly warm, flowers are blooming, really super recommended!

Queenstown, a beautiful town surrounded by the Southern Alps, can almost be said to be the business card of New Zealand tourism~ Located on the north shore of New Zealand's Lake Wakatipu, adjacent to the former gold mining area-Arrow Town, there are still remnants of Chinese gold mining in New Zealand-Chinese Village, countless travelers are attracted by its natural scenery, and many extreme sports enthusiasts will also come here specially,

Good Shepherd Church:
It is a church named after a sculpture of a shepherd dog, which is a tribute to the shepherd dogs who helped open up the farmland area in the past, which is very commemorative~ And it is a unique Gothic wooden stone structure building, which can be said to be unique in New Zealand. Looking out from the window of the church altar, you can also see the magnificent scenery of the Southern Alps, many newlyweds will choose to get married here!
Cook Mountain Helicopter Experience
lucky day..
Recently, the weather in the South Island has been bad.. Many projects have been continuously cancelled.. Even a plane was blown back..
Today was originally scheduled to fly at 10 o'clock and was delayed until 10:30.. When we came back and waited for our flight to finish.. The wind started to blow.. The staff said we were very lucky.. They are not receiving any more today…
Here are some tips for everyone:
1⃣️Children who are too young may be scared. My child is two years and seven months old and was almost crying throughout the journey.. He was only happy when we reached the snow mountain.. When we came down, he started to grip our hands tightly again… So.. Act according to your ability
2⃣️Selfie sticks, dolls, iPads, backpacks are not allowed.. They can be left with the staff.
3⃣️Try to wear bright colors, it looks good in photos!
4⃣️Be calm.. Because the weather has been really windy recently.
Apart from this, the helicopter experience is really worth it…

New Zealand Helicopter Glacier Experience
🌟Highlights:
New Zealand is the last pure land in the world. It has all terrains except deserts. New Zealand's glaciers are the only two temperate glaciers in the world (the other temperate glacier country is Chile). New Zealand's glaciers were formed 4000 years ago, due to continuous snowfall at that time, the snow pressure formed glaciers. Many terrains in the South Island of New Zealand are related to the movement of glaciers. Tasman Glacier is located on a mountain about 5000 meters above sea level. It is currently the largest glacier in New Zealand, with a length of about 90 kilometers. Taking a helicopter to watch the whole panorama of Tasman Glacier is a very shocking experience. The whole process is about 45 minutes, including about 10 minutes of glacier landing. After takeoff, you can not only enjoy the largest glacier in New Zealand, but also enjoy the highest peak of New Zealand, Mount Cook. Highly recommended!
📝Note tips:
When taking a helicopter to watch the glacier, you cannot bring selfie sticks, carry-on bags, etc. It is recommended to deposit before takeoff. After boarding, you must fasten your seat belt throughout the journey. When landing on the glacier, stand in the front of the plane to avoid being injured by the propeller at the back of the helicopter.
📍Detailed address:
Mount Cook National Park
Let's go to Mount Cook to see the glaciers
Mount Cook is located in the central part of the South Island
With an altitude of 3754 - the highest peak in New Zealand, covered with glaciers all year round
For ordinary people, it is the easiest glacier to reach, and there are no special physical requirements, unlike many glacier areas where there will be altitude sickness, here you just need to take a helicopter to easily touch the glacier
If you are moved, bring your family or friends to take a look
🇳🇿 Lake Pukaki, New Zealand
#wheretogo
Decided to take a pit stop here in Lake Pukaki. It is a huge lake fed from the Tasman River. We visited at noon which was perfect as the bright sunshine showcased the lake's incredible blue hues. It's a vast, pristine body of water that truly captivates with its beauty. It was so hard to take our eyes off from this beautiful blue lake. I also fell very grateful that we could indulge a plate of free sashimi while appreciating such view.

Explore the South Island of New Zealand by self-driving, this is the way to do it
New Zealand is divided into the North Island and the South Island. For friends who enjoy self-driving tours, it is recommended to prioritize the South Island
The South Island of New Zealand is relatively large, and there are three classic self-driving routes: the middle line Mount Cook, with Cook Snow Mountain, Romantic Church and Queenstown as the main attractions; the East China Sea Line to Dunedin, with Oamaru Little Penguins, Dunedin Railway Station, and Queenstown as the main attractions. The town is the main scenic spot; the West Sea Line Glacier is dominated by the glacier along the way, Wanaka and Queenstown along the way. Our self-driving tour re-planned the route on the basis of the classic route, starting from Christchurch, going to Akaroa, then to Mount Cook, Wanaka, to Queenstown, and finally to Dunedin and back to Christchurch .
The advantage of playing this way is that you have played the three classics of Mount Cook, Wanaka, and Queenstown among the three classic routes, and each of the above-mentioned attractions has 2 days of sufficient play time, so you can enjoy the depth tour.
The South Island of New Zealand is part of New Zealand.
The South Island of New Zealand is one of the two main islands that make up New Zealand. It is located in the south of New Zealand, separated from the North Island by the Cook Strait to the north, facing Stewart Island across the Foveaux Strait to the south. It is 1600 kilometers west of Australia and borders Tonga and Fiji to the east.
The South Island coastline is 6,900 kilometers long and has many beautiful beaches. From Cape Farewell in the north to Bluff in the south, it is 840 kilometers apart, and the widest east-west distance is 336 kilometers. The total area of the island is 154,037 square kilometers, making it the largest island in New Zealand and the twelfth largest island in the world. The Southern Alps on the west coast of the South Island are the largest mountainous area in New Zealand, with Mount Cook being the highest peak at 3,754 meters above sea level. There are narrow plains along the eastern coast, with the Canterbury Plains being the most important. In Maori, the South Island is called "Te Wai Pounamu", which means "greenstone water" in Chinese.
Thought.
Aoraki Mt. Cook
Aoraki / Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand. Its height, as of 2014, is listed as 3,724 metres. It sits in the Southern Alps, the mountain range that runs the length of the South Island. A popular tourist destination, it is also a favourite challenge for mountain climbers.

Forests, pastures, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, plateau lakes... these classics are all gathered in Mount Cook National Park. As one of the locations of the movie "Lord of the Rings", Mount Cook is like a big brother, stationed in the middle of the South Island, the beautiful scenery attracts countless tourists, with a sincere heart to follow the beauty.
The summit of Mount Cook, which stands at the top of the peak, is covered with snow and ice all year round. The perennial snow melts and merges into the breathtaking blue lake Lake Tekapo. Mount Cook and Lake Tekapo are like a pair of lovers, magnificent and gentle.
The last stop of Mount Cook is Lake Wanaka. From Wanaka to Mount Cook, you will pass through Pukaki Lake, heading north from the west bank of Pukaki Lake and heading to Mount Cook. Known as one of the most beautiful self-driving roads in the South Island. On the right side of the

Woke up in the morning at Mount Cook Village, and was awakened by the red color in the gap between the curtains that were not tightened. Quickly put on the jacket and rushed to the viewing platform on the second floor.
At this time there are already other people on the platform, everyone is an action: raise the phone to shoot. Pushing open the door and going out of the house, the temperature in the village of Cook Hill is very low in the early morning, and the clear air reveals the coldness of the glaciers and snow-capped mountains, which makes me feel excited. In front of it is a magnificent picture. The sky in the east was reddish by the red sun. Yesterday, the snow-capped peak of Mount Cook under the blue sky slightly faded from the fascinating side of the new sunrise, revealing the feeling of being as shy as a girl. Sunrise and sunset are very, the light and shadow are changing rapidly. I dare not leave a step, and use the camera to record the wonderful moment in front of me. At the same angle, after ten minutes, the skylight returned to normal blue. The sunnyness of the morning brought the cloudy days of the next two days. It was not until three days later that we returned to Christchurch to see the blue sky and the sun. Therefore, there is no best viewing star in Tekapo, to see the Milky Way. Another big pity is that during the few days we were in the South Island, the Aurora broke out in New Zealand, and the circle of friends was not seen.
However, the Milky Way and the early morning sun seen in Mount Cook made up for this regret.
Coming to New Zealand is the way to recommend a helicopter anyway.
The scheduled helicopter itinerary is Mount Cook Tasman Glacier Helicopter Tour + Glacier Walk, telling the truth, the mountain is much colder than the mountain. Be sure to dress thick. In addition, if your shoes are not waterproof, the hiking company will provide shoes. The most attractive thing about the
glacier hike is the ice climbing cave. Saying that every ice hole is actually different, and the ice hole will move. The ice hole you see today may not exist after two weeks. But there will be new ice cave trips, especially magical.
In addition to the ice cave, the Tasman Glacier is also very beautiful, but in such a light, the reflection is about to stab.
The whole event was completed under the guidance of the guide, so it is very safe. The total time is about 3-4 hours. The arrangement is very reasonable. It won't feel particularly tired. The guide is super nice and takes photos of me all the way. If you have the opportunity to go to New Zealand, it is recommended to try it~
