Before you can see the monkeys, you need to walk a section of mountain road. The walking speed varies from person to person, and it takes about 15-20 minutes to arrive. There are rest pavilions every few steps, so don't worry too much. There is also a small children's play area for the little ones. The monkeys are all wild, so be sure to follow the instructions of the staff and signboards to avoid being attacked by monkeys. There is a small cabin where you can feed the monkeys. It was rainy, but it's still nice to visit the monkey park. The park is open until 16, so you have to keep up. They only accept cash. It was autumn, so monkeys with red faces, they can be fed in a special place behind a cage. Monkeys may pass very close yo you, they are not aggressive, but according to the rules you can't touch them. It's advisable to stay 2 m away from them. It is quite a hike uphill to the Monkey Park but I saw an elderly couple walking up slowly so you should be able to do so as well. The hike up is well worth the time and effort. You get a breathtaking view at the top, and the monkeys are fun to watch. I was surprised we could get so close to the monkeys. They are quite used to having people around, and will leave you alone as long as you obey the rules posted all over the park. You can buy peanuts to feed them. A fun place!

I was walking around Arashiyama when it suddenly appeared in my Google Search that there is this Arashiyama Monkey Park. So I went there right away! What spontaneity! Haha! The entrance fee was ¥550, and gosh! I really needed to climb up to Mt. Arashiyama! Well, it wasn't that steep tho, but it was still tiring.
