Phnom Wan Castle is the fifth largest Khmer historical site in Thailand, located in Ban Makha, Ban Pho Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
🏛️It was originally built in the 15th Buddhist century with bricks before being rebuilt with stone during the 18th and 19th Buddhist centuries. Initially a Hindu temple, it was later transformed into a Buddhist site, housing a Buddha image within the prang. The Fine Arts Department excavated the castle and discovered eight Khmer inscriptions, providing important information about various kings from the 15th to 17th Buddhist centuries, including Indravarman, Suryavarman, and Udayadityavarman. and Jayavarman VI, among others. The contents are clearly translated regarding the offering ceremony and positions of power during that era.
