Spend half a day to hike and walk around the island of Cheung Chau despite the rain in Jul 2023. Highly recommend to try the fruit mochi (mango was awesome!) and the rice roll with dough fritter (dip with sesame sauce). Plenty of supermarket and 7-11 near the jetty so you can grab water easily. Would have loved to come earlier in the morning to hike and have lunch. There wasnt any great stores that caught my attention for dinner so we went back to main HK island instead. Getting There - Best way to get there is by a ferry. I would suggest the fast ferry, it's about 15-20 minutes faster than the normal ferry and it takes around 30 minutes. Attractions - It's a cute tropical island, with a variety of street food, restaurants and souvenir shops. If you walk across the island you can get to the beach, it's about 10 minute walk from the ferry. Food & Restaurants - I recommend trying mango mochi, frozen watermelon and fish balls. I came here with a friend from overseas in the afternoon to evening as we really wanted to enjoy the beach and sunset, then ended the half-day trip enjoying seafood at local restaurant. We took ordinary ferry from Central to get to this island. It was around 50-minute trip. Then, stroll around the main road of the Island, before go picnic at the beach and swim for around one hour. We are lucky as we can enjoy the beautiful sunset from the beach. It’s a compliment for our trip.
