On April 25, 1882, at exactly 8:15 AM, the French army attacked and approached the Hanoi Citadel. However, in the tense situation, an explosion occurred, allowing the French army to enter the citadel. Governor Hoang Dieu, unable to defend the citadel, dismissed his generals, apologized to the king, and then tragically committed suicide. This place holds a painful history.
