Tianjin Five Avenues (Wudadao)
Touring Tianjin Five Avenues in a self-cycling Tour car. The weather was perfect! You definitely want to try this with a friend. The experience was amazing ! My friend and I didn’t have a tour guide because we wouldn’t understand Chinese, we had our map, and we would shadow other cycle cars.
Cycling outside Minyuan Plaza for a quick tour. The Minyuan Plaza is stunning at first sight. It serves as a comprehensive public facility equipped with a running track, lawns, seating areas and multiple business outlets. The plaza has become a popular destination for tourists and locals. You may be surprised at the number of food stands nearby.
Tianjin Five Avenues (Wudadao) are on the south part of the downtown of Tianjin in the shape of rectangle area with the total length of 17 km and total area of 1.28 square meters. There are 23 roads in this area, 2000 various types of architectures among which more than 900 garden houses and lodging houses were built up before 1949, embodying the architectures in different historical periods of Europe.

Wudadao Area
Wudadao area or Five Great Avenue in Tianjin. ✅This is a historical part of the city, located in downtown. It’s a former German concession, later it became a residence for local politicians, or famous people. Buildings here are in European style. Walking all around those streets it’s possible to forget that you are in China.
Buildings represent the part of Tianjin history. Some of them became museums. But lots of houses function right now like cafes, bars or restaurants. Almost in every street you will find an unusual stylish place to drink a cup of coffee.
Walk or take a bike and ride all around! You will not regret!

Witnessed the history of Tianjin's five avenues
walking on the streets of Tianjin's Fifth Avenue. The Xiaoyang Building here spans the spring and autumn of the century, and now it seems to have entered the alienated time and space.
For those who are familiar with history, they know that every building here has a unique history, and how many modern celebrities have left their footprints here.
Sit on the sightseeing carriage, listen to the sound of the horseshoe knocking on the ground, and enjoy the romance of the aristocrats of the old century lazily, and it is also a perfect experience.
dark green retro bus, docked on the side of the road, has become a beautiful landscape in the five avenues.
Gorgeous Buildings in Tianjin
Experienced an amazing #weekendgetaways in Tianjin by visiting this popular tourist attraction. The name is Five Major Avenues, located in Heping District, approximately 3-4 km from the downtown of Tianjin. You can find many good cafes, food stalls, and pretty cultural heritage buildings around. It's very suitable for relaxing with friends and family. There's a sport museum and a big outdoor hall for chilling with your loved ones. This spring, they have a photo exhibition too in that area. You can see many good spring-themes photos in the main hall of Five Major Avenues.
Five Major Avenues Tianjin
Enjoying another side of #springblossom in Tianjin by visiting Five Major Avenues area. It's native name is 五大道 (Wudadao). It's a huge area full of unique architecture. The buildings themselves were pretty, moreover the flowers and trees blooming in there, creating more romantic vibe in every corner.
How to get here:
If you come from Tianjin Railway station area, you can take Tianjin city bus number 9, stop at Guilin Lu bus stop.
Let's go see the begonia flowers at Wudadao
Wow 😍 I just caught the tail end of the begonia bloom.
Fortunately, I also encountered the little pink cherry blossoms🌸 'When asked who is behind the curtain, the answer is the begonia remains the same.'
If I had come a few days later, I probably wouldn't have been able to see them. Early April is the best time for flower viewing.
For photos, you can choose to wear colors that are more spring-like🌈.
A pink cardigan with a half-body skirt is a nice combination and very photogenic~
This time coming to Tianjin during the cultural festival, Wudadao is really lively, and it's worth wandering around more✌
Begonia Blossom Season: Capturing the Most Beautiful Moments of Spring
🌸 In spring, strolling along the Five Avenues, one's eyes are filled with romantic shades of pink. During the season when begonias bloom, this place becomes an ocean of flowers, each one acting as a messenger of spring, telling tales of warmth and vitality. Walking among the sea of flowers is like being in a fairy tale world, making it irresistible to stop and admire, capturing these beautiful moments with a camera. 📸
🌺 With their unique charm, begonias attract countless photography enthusiasts and tourists. Each flower is like a meticulously designed work of art, delicate yet elegant. Here, you can find the best photography angles to capture the most touching scenes of spring. 🌼
🌷 Besides admiring and photographing, there are many ways to enjoy the begonias on the Five Avenues. You can take a loved one for a walk under the begonias, enjoying this springtime romance; or gather a few friends for a picnic, feeling the breath of spring. No matter how you choose to spend your time, the begonias on the Five Avenues can offer you an unforgettable experience. 🌷
Tianjin's Five Avenues and Xikai Church
The most dazzling part of the Five Avenues, composed of five main streets, is the entire cluster of foreign-style buildings, many of which were villas where foreigners lived in the past. Since the Five Avenues are so extensive, to avoid too much hustle, one can only take an electric sightseeing car, but unfortunately, many attractions were not observed in detail. Afterwards, we visited the grand Romanesque building of Xikai Church and the former residence of the last emperor, Puyi, known as Jingyuan.

Coordinates Tianjin, the Begonia Festival is here again
A branch with a bird presses down the flowers low
Begonias play with spring and hang purple silk.
The Begonia Festival in Tianjin has come again with a bunch of little surprises!
🚉Transportation Strategy:
Currently, shared bikes are not allowed to enter near the Minyuan of the Five Avenues,
You need to park the bike on the periphery and walk in, but it's not boring along the way, with a view every three steps and a photo opportunity every five steps, just wander!
I didn't even mention driving because it's really not recommended,
Finding a parking spot can be a very bad mood...
❤Recommended Reason:
All kinds of fresh, artistic, and spring vibes are abundant
For those who like to take photos and are artistic, 'rush' is the word
You must wear Hanfu, it looks so good in photos!
The temperature warms up at the end of March
Although the begonia flowers are not fully ready yet
But various settings and little food carts and cultural and creative ones are all in place.
Photos can be beautiful
Snacks can be satisfying
Cultural and creative products can make your wallet deflate!
(Various cultural and creative pushcarts inside Minyuan Square, stamp collectors will have a lot to gain)
Remember to come to the Post Coffee, the post office that used to be located opposite the main entrance of Minyuan has been converted into a coffee shop! Very stylish😘

Tianjin is about to be tightly embraced by the begonias
Tianjin is very relaxed. As a municipality directly under the Central Government, it doesn't have the fast pace of Shanghai, the great pressure of Beijing, or the spicy heat of Chongqing. Tianjin is just like the city's signature—Tianjin 'Dajia' (local respected elder), with that kind of laziness, leisure, laid-back attitude, yet always full of vitality.
Tianjin is very beautiful, especially when the begonias are in full bloom. March is just around the corner. Walking along the Five Avenues, the begonias along the street tightly embrace the visitors in their arms, and the bustling crowd is just like the begonias, still a bit chilly in the early spring but as warm as spring itself.
Tianjin has a unique flavor. Tianjin Wei has half a history of the Republic of China. When you have time, you must go and listen to the cross-talk. There is a difference between live performances and TV. The ability to control the stage of new and old actors is immediately apparent. The performance of the old actors is an all-around three-dimensional feast, and the new actors need to work hard to carry on the tradition!
Tianjin is very romantic. Tianjin might be the city with the most eager to finish work in the whole country. In the evening, go sit by the river near Tianjin Station, listen to the songs of street artists, without the heaviness of Shanghai's Bund No. 18, but with Tianjin's unique leisurely romance.
Old travel photos of Tianjin, a city I fell in love with at first sight
Tianjin / 2012.12
.
In a city that you will fall in love with at first sight
Tianjin must have a name
.
I still remember clearly
When I came out of Tianjin Station early in the morning
The Haihe River under the morning light was sparkling
Shining like broken diamonds
.
There are many different types of bridges on the Haihe River, whether you are on the bridge or under the bridge, it is very pleasing to the eye.
.
A few of my favorite check-in spots
.
🔵Wudadao
Wudadao refers to the area south of Chengdu Road, north of Machang Road, east of Xikang Road, and west of the intersection of Machang Road and Nanjing Road. The buildings in Wudadao include Gothic, Baroque, Roman, Byzantine, and other styles, gathering buildings from the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and other countries, and can be called a 'World Architecture Museum'.
.
🔵Xikai Church
Xikai Church is the largest Roman-style building in Tianjin, with a very delicate exterior and interior. We happened to be in Tianjin during Christmas, so on Christmas Eve we received cookies from the church outside, which felt very surprising and lucky.
.
🔵China House
China House is a French-style mansion built with ancient porcelain, very delicate and distinctive.
.
🔵Italian Style Street
Italian Style Street is a square area formed by Wujing Road, Boai Road, Shengli Road, and Jianguo Road, with more than 100 well-preserved European buildings with a history of 100 years. The commercial development is also very complete, it's nice to stroll around and take pictures here.
.
🔵Ancient Culture Street
Ancient Culture Street is a concentration of old Tianjin shops and folk handicraft shops, with an antique and strong national style.
.
🔵Quanyechang
Quanyechang was once the largest shopping mall in Tianjin, and was known as: the city within the city, the market within the market, it can be said that the prosperity of Tianjin's modern layout started from 'Quanyechang'.
.
Also, don't forget to visit the Tianjin Eye, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Tianjin by riding the Ferris wheel.
.
There are also higher education institutions such as Nankai University and Tianjin University, but it may not be convenient to visit now, you can see if you can make an appointment to go in.
How to enjoy two days in Tianjin without getting tired?
Tianjin's core attractions: You think the city is huge, but the distance between most core attractions is mostly 2.3km.
Children can't ride bikes on the road, this distance on foot, wastes the child, and is equivalent to wasting the mother.
I checked a lot of strategies, all of them were just touching on the surface, and in the end I didn't get it, how to solve the transportation problem with children.
Self-driving, let's make good use of the car.
The following is a strategy that is both exercise, not tired, not stuck in traffic and free, personally tested, effective, just for you.
Stay: Near Xiaobailou. Quanji Hotel, a reliable chain, smart home with intention, reasonable room layout.
Attractions:
Day 1: Xiaobailou Hotel—Leg—Wudadao——Horse-drawn tour—(Leg)—Café—(Leg)—Hotel—(Drive)—Lujiazui Qianxiangyi—Drive tour: Tianjin Eye, Haihe, Bei'an Bridge, Hotel
1. Walk from the hotel to Minyuan Square on Wudadao 1.5km+. Horse-drawn carriage for 20 minutes around the starting point. 80 yuan per person, same charge for children over height. There is explanation on the way, and horse "fragrance". Children like it.
2. Nearby coffee. Quiet, inclusive. Adults and children charge their phones at the same time. Walk back to the hotel 1.5km+
3. Qianxiangyi Crosstalk. The tables in the 1st and 2nd rows are all priced at 180, and you can even see the sweat beads on the actor's face. The location is particularly suitable for children who are willing to take over and raise their hands to answer questions. Went to the Lujiazui branch, on the 5th floor of Lujiazui Square, inside a shopping mall. Good parking, catering available. One-stop service.
4. Drive to tour Haihe at night, watch Tianjin Eye, brilliant Haihe, Iron Bridges, building advertisements and other Spring Festival night scenes. The landscape lights are good, worth stopping to admire. (Tianjin seems to not ban firecrackers, there are flowers by the river)
Day 2: Hotel—(Drive)—Tianhe City Shopping Center (Parking)—(Leg)—Porcelain House—(Leg)—Century Clock—(Leg)—Tianhe City Shopping Center—(Drive)—Isetan (Parking, Lunch)——Xikai Church
1. Porcelain House. Adults 50 yuan, 120-150cm 30 yuan.
The road and the driveway at the door are too narrow, not only traffic jams, but also people jams!
On the second day of the lunar new year, there are many people at the attractions, but at least they can move around and touch the attractions for photos. About 40 minutes, walk around and think.
As for the viewing, how to say: the original intention is not easy, the courage and perseverance are admirable! Artistry——Hey, all kinds of works have to be seen, no regrets.
2. Century Clock. Built in the millennium, hence the name. Looking from the south bank of the river, the unexpected joy is hearing the hourly chime of "The East is Red", and the 12 chimes. It feels longer than the interval at Beijing Station.
3. Xikai Church. I made a half-day strategy and forgot to go. It seems that food can make people forget everything...the main business.
The various small western-style buildings between the attractions, showing off Tianjin's hundred years of glory, and the people's longing for a better life.
Overall strategy for self-driving in Tianjin: Drive between attractions with large spans. Park at the mall near the destination, go to the destination on foot, save the trouble of traffic jams. Tianjin·China

Around the Country Series 21 Tianjin Five Avenues
🌈Historical Background:
After the 1911 Revolution, many relatives of the Qing Dynasty, old and young, came to live in the Tianjin Concession from Beijing; there were also many rich merchants, celebrities, red corners, and important people during the Beiyang Government period who have left their footprints here. The area has five longer streets named 'Machang Road, Munan Road, Dali Road, Chongqing Road and Chengdu Road', hence the name.
🚗Highlight Introduction:
The famous buildings in the Five Avenues include Gothic, Baroque, Roman, Byzantine, and also include the southern European style of the Middle Ages, the eclectic style of the 19th century, gathering more than 230 buildings from countries such as Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, etc., known as the 'World Architecture Expo'. The more famous ones include Qing Wangfu, Minyuan Square, Geda Building, the old site of the Hong Kong Building, etc.
🎫Ticket Information:
Free, horse-drawn carriage Qing Wangfu charges, Metro Line 1 Xiaobailou direct.
✨Tour Suggestions:
The Five Avenues Cultural Tourism Zone has more than 200 modern celebrity residences, most of which are protected buildings and can only be visited from the outside, similar to the Eight Great Guans Scenic Area in Qingdao. You can go to Qing Wangfu first, and to the west is Minyuan Square, which is also the starting point of the horse-drawn carriage. The carriage goes counterclockwise, passing Munan Park, Geda Building. If the weather is not hot, you can consider walking. If you have plenty of time, you can also go to Xikai Church, Porcelain House, not far from the Five Avenues.
atticus.valerian.hawthorne Life advice! Be sure to go to Tianjin in the fall
Have you ever seen the autumn in the north? When the setting sun shines on both sides of the Haihe River, the buildings of all nations begin to chant colorful poems, Tianjin's literature and art do not need to be deliberately highlighted, with the morning and evening glow of autumn, you can capture it inadvertently.

When the red, yellow, green, brown and other autumn leaves on Wudadao start to be colorful, the story of Tianjin's autumn becomes brilliant. Have the first cup of coffee in autumn, go to Wudadao where there are many famous people's former residences to capture the literary stories of autumn~

In addition to the scenes of TV dramas, there are also former residences of famous people such as Yuan Shikai, and you may also hear a song 'Farewell' ringing.
