May Day Reverse Travel | I've been to 8 niche yet comfortable tourist destinations~
I've traveled to many + cities over the past 2 years
There are both niche and unpopular as well as lively and fun places
If you still don't know where to go for May Day~
Here are a few places I think are pretty good~
Spent a whole day sorting them out, suggest bookmarking
.
❶ Bijie, Guizhou
Guizhou has many unique karst landforms and cave landscapes, as well as the "world's largest natural garden" and unique cultural customs and traditional ancient villages
⭐️ Recommended places: Jiudongtian, Baili Azalea, Baili Gallery
.
❷ Shangrao, Jiangxi
"Not in Jiangnan but better than Jiangnan," Shangrao's location is uniquely advantageous as the closest place to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, with many A-level scenic spots. Wuyuan, Shangrao also has many beautiful scenes, and it's not necessary to squeeze into those popular spots~
⭐️ Recommended places: Shangtan Village, Chaguan Village, Sanyan Bridge
.
❸ Yibin, Sichuan
Known as the "First City of the Yangtze River," it is where the Jinsha River, Min River, and Yangtze River converge. The scenery here is beautiful, containing rich historical culture, and the river and night views here are worth visiting
⭐️ Recommended places: Lizhuang Ancient Town, Shunan Bamboo Sea
.
❹ Liping, Guizhou
Home to the largest Dong village in China, recommended by National Geographic without too much commercialization, primitive and simple! Far from the hustle and bustle of the city with no crowds, if you don't like the strong commercial atmosphere, consider coming here to see
⭐️ Recommended places: Zhaoxing Dong Village, Tang'an Terraced Fields
.
❺ Lianjiang, Fuzhou
Here is Qidacun, which is like Rio de Janeiro, and there is a wooden plank road that leads to the sea, a niche seaside city
⭐️ Recommended places: Qiguanding, Beijiaobi, Gushicun
.
❻ Jingdezhen, Jiangxi
One of China's four ancient towns, "the color of the sky after rain" couldn't be more appropriate to describe it, and there are many ceramic museums, a place that is both artistic and romantic~
⭐️ Recommended places: Yaoli Ancient Town, Sanbao Village
.
❼ Leshan, Sichuan
Rich in historical and cultural heritage, and a gathering place for delicious food, there is also the Dadu River Gorge National Geopark, known as China's Bermuda, and Mount Emei, which has been listed as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site
⭐️ Recommended places: Marileng, Jinkouhe Grand Canyon
.
❽ Lijiang, Yunnan
Although Lijiang is not unpopular, it is a fun and photogenic city. You can slow down to experience the worldly life in Baisha Ancient Town, see the sun shining on the Golden Mountain, lakes, herds of cattle and sheep, fulfilling all my fantasies about mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas
⭐️ Recommended places: Baisha Ancient Town, Wenhai Village

⛱️Recommended Tourist Attractions
❶Wujiang Source Hundred-Mile Gallery
'Thousand-mile Wujiang River, Hundred-mile Gallery'—I've found the real-life version of the 'Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains' painting. A winding river flows through it, with sheer cliffs and deep valleys on both sides merging into one, making you feel as if you're in a landscape painting, serene and beautiful.
.
❷Hundred-Mile Azalea
This place boasts the largest azalea flower sea in the country, not only in size but also in variety, and it is the best-preserved natural garden, with the peak blooming season coming at the end of March.
.
❸Pingyuan Ancient Town
Here, there is a massive group of antique-style buildings, and many buildings retain the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The ancient town has streams, lakes, and caves.
.
❹Jiudongtian
Located in Dafang, it was my first time seeing such a unique natural wonder. The interconnected caves form an underground river, water-filled caves, canyons, natural bridges, skylights, and wells, earning it the reputation of a 'Karst Geological Museum'!
.
❺Muge Ancient Town
Located in Dafang County, this place has a long history and was once known as the 'Guizhou Pacifying Commissioner's Office,' where the pacifying commissioner and his wife dealt with governmental affairs.
.
👀Guizhou's cultural and tourism sector is making big moves~
From 3.19 to 12.31 this year, Guizhou is implementing a policy of four exemptions, one more, and one reduction
◆Students from all over the country, as well as children under 6 years old and seniors over 60, enjoy free admission to all A-level scenic spots in Guizhou
◆Residents of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan can enjoy free admission with valid documents
◆Certain professionals such as police officers, teachers, and medical staff enjoy free admission
◆Every weekend, a 'half-price discount for self-driving tourists' is offered to visitors from outside the province
◆All A-level scenic spots implement a 'multi-day use ticket system' allowing unrestricted entry to the scenic area within 5 days
.
⚠️tips
🔹The Hundred-Mile Azalea is not fully open yet, and it is expected to reach peak bloom at the end of the month
🔹Guizhou attractions are quite scattered, so it's recommended to self-drive or join a group tour
🔹If you're not in a hurry, it's advisable to allow for extra time
Jiudongtian in Guizhou, an underestimated fairyland on earth!!
Jiudongtian is located at the junction of Nayong and Dafang counties in Guizhou Province. It is a grand natural scenery group composed of karst caves, underground rivers, natural bridges, stone forests, cliffs, precipices, and secluded valleys. Here you can feel the unique charm of the karst topography~ There are peculiar karst landscapes around each "cave mouth", and every step you take is astonishing!
Tips:
1️⃣It is recommended that everyone wear good walking shoes, as there is a part of the scenic area that requires walking on mountain trails!
2️⃣Bring a jacket, the temperature difference inside and outside the cave is large, it's cool inside like air conditioning and the outdoor sun is very strong, you need to protect against the sun!
3️⃣Must! Go for a boat tour! It will be a very different experience! You can observe the strange stalactites in the cave at close range and feel the wonders of nature!
It's a marvel that seems like a cave but not quite, a splendid place known as Jiudongtian
Jiudongtian Scenic Area is located at the junction of Dafang County and Nayong County. It is named Jiudongtian because of the nine large skylights on the underground river that is about seven kilometers long.
Every step reveals a picturesque scene, every cave has a water body, hence the name Jiudongtian. This place is a typical karst landform: underground rivers, skylights, cliffs, peaks and valleys, all combined to form a magnificent karst landscape, known as the encyclopedia of karst on earth, a karst geological museum. The nine caves are connected, with stalactites hanging down, steep rocks piercing the sky, in various shapes and forms, creating a marvelous landscape. Between the caves, you can either walk or boat, looking up at the natural beauty, each place has its own unique charm.
You must visit Jiudongtian in person, otherwise, it's really hard to imagine that under the layers of mountains, there are such magnificent caves and underground rivers, the stalactites that are a masterpiece of nature, truly awe-inspiring! Traveling along the underground river in the canyon, with the occasional cool water droplets from the stalactites above, admiring the sound and light projections in the cave, it's like traveling through a time tunnel!
