After leaving Geibikei Gorge Take the train to the famous spring I am so glad that the weather is good today. You can imagine how comfortable it will be to walk on the forest trails. Chuson-ji Temple is located in Hiraizumi, Nishiiwai District, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. It is the head temple of the Tendai sect in the Tohoku region. Founded in 850, it is dedicated to Shakyamuni Buddha and is one of the 33 Kannon temples in Oshu. Chuson-ji Temple has many national treasures and cultural heritage sites, and is known as the most important treasure house of Heian Buddhist art in eastern Japan. In 2011, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site as part of the "Hiraizumi - Temples, Gardens and Archaeological Sites Representing the Buddhist Pure Land."

I went to visit Chusonji Temple in Iwate Prefecture, as it was celebrating its 900th anniversary. I arrived at 8:30 in the morning, but there were already several cars and people there. By 11:00 on my way back, the parking lot was full and there was a line of people waiting. I recommend going early. This was my first time seeing Chusonji Temple, and it really brought home to me the fact that it was built with a lot of history in mind, and I felt like my soul was cleansed. There is also lots of nature, and you can feel the negative ions.

I went to see the light-up at Chusonji Temple. It was the last day, but I'm glad I made it in time! I was so impressed. It's easier to park your car in the parking lot at the top instead of climbing from the bottom. There was a pitch black road, so I used my smartphone light as a flashlight. The mountain path at Chusonji Temple was fantastically lit up, and the autumn leaves, which changed from green to yellow and red in gradations, were beautiful. The autumn leaves reflected in the pond were also very beautiful, unlike during the day. The admission fee was free. I would definitely recommend going during the light-up period.
