Longjing Tea Fields are located in Hangzhou, China, and often overlooked as a place to visit. The city already has so many things to do that people will skip coming here. Located in the West Lake area, Longjing Tea Fields are near Xiwongjia Mountain. There is a spring pool here that is not dry even during severe drought ～ in ancient times, people believed it was connected to the ocean with a dragon in it, so this is where the name Longjing comes from 🐉 The hike is quite easy to the top of the hills, with excellent scenery as you walk through narrow paths surrounded by tea leaves. At the top there is a beautiful view of Hangzhou city and West Lake. It is an incredible photo opportunity 📸 There is a traditional Chinese village nearby, of which almost all the residents work in the tea fields. Harvesting season in China can vary greatly between the different growing regions, sometimes starting as early as March and lasting until late November. Within the area, local vendors could be seen sitting outdoors with their metal pans drying freshly picked green tea. The smell emitting these pans and local shops was unbelievable – a delicate and sweet fragrance that reminded us of everything matcha we had ever eaten. Walking through the village, we saw numerous bamboo baskets holding Longjing’s infamous tea leaves; ranging from bright greens to paler hues once dried. We met a local tea grower and guide, who was to bring us to his part of the plantation. His little tea shop was decorated with traditional wear – hats, old outfits and little bamboo baskets used for collecting tea. Tying our own little baskets to our hips, we were led towards the tea terraces at last! The view from the middle of the hill was incredible – a beautiful panoramic view of the valley where terraces seemed to cover every surface of the surrounding area. #createwithtrip

Hangzhou Longjin Tea Plant 🍃 The Longjin Tea Farm/Plant 🍃is a big tea community or village where people live ,while most of them farm and sell their tea 🍵. The farmers were quite friendly 😊 and approachable. There are a few restaurants to choose from (mostly local ) . It’s advisable to wear comfortable shoes 👟 ,because the farms are quite hilly. The entrance is free. It's actually a perfect place to go to during spring 🌸.

We all know, China is famous for its tea 🍵; what if I say I had an opportunity to taste the best of them. A 40 minutes drive from Hangzhou station to the outskirts of the city take you to Longjing village. We actually were doing 🥾 hiking there but the overall experience turned out to be knowing the greatness of tea in there. The Longjing tea or the dragon well tea (龙井茶）is the best green tea 💚 in China. We started at the National tea museum spend only very less time there, then moved on to our hiking path shililangdang (十里琅珰) . On the way, you can get immersed in the amazing fragrance💆 and definitely more amazing places with the view. They even call this tea as the Golden card of Hangzhou due to the fertility of the mountains 🏞️. It's quite a 3 hour hike in a relaxed way !! If you love drinking tea as much as I do, and want to learn more about local tea culture, April is a great month to visit Hangzhou. We paid a visit to the Longjing Tea Fields, which makes for a great day tour out of the city center of Hangzhou. The village itself was only a 5-10 minute walk from the Imperial Library, where local vendors could be seen sitting outdoors with their metal pans drying freshly picked green tea. The smell emitting these pans and local shops was unbelievable – a delicate and sweet fragrance that reminded us of everything matcha we had ever eaten. The ridge of the hills themselves are said to represent that of the dragon which the area takes its name from, extending from head to tail and curling around the plantation we were in! N.B. If travelling to Hangzhou during a weekend, be sure to allow some extra travel time to get to Longjing Village! On a good day, this trip is usually around 30-40 minutes by taxi, or an hour by bus. Arriving on a Sunday though, around 11am, we ended up being stuck in traffic for over 1.5 hours while trying to get to Longjing Village in a taxi (due to the area around the West Lake being highly congested). #urbanexplorer#qingmingtravel

#Mainland Travel: 5-day tour in Hangzhou, part 4. Day 5: Hangzhou Morning: Take a taxi from Qingzhiwu's B&B to Longjing Village and visit the Longjing Tea Garden. We went there before the Qingming Festival, so we could taste the pre-Qingming Longjing. After visiting the Longjing Tea Garden, take a taxi to the north gate of Xixi Wetland Park (free). Walk from the North Gate to the Wetland Park to Hezhu Street and have lunch on Hezhu Street. Then take the scenic area bus back to the North Gate. Afternoon: Take the subway from Xixi North Subway Station to Wensan Road, transfer to Huanglong Sports Center, take the bus back to the B&B in Qingzhiwu and rest for a while. Evening: Visit Hangzhou Botanical Garden (enter from the Qingzhiwu entrance). The Botanical Garden is free of charge in the evening. Evening: At around 7 o'clock, take a bus from Qingzhiwu, then take the subway to Xiaoshan International Airport, ending this trip to Hangzhou. Despite the persistent cold, Hangzhou has completely charmed me. A short walk brought me to Longjing Village, where I embarked on a stunning hike through the terraced tea fields leading to 法喜寺 (Faxi Temple). A simple, yet satisfying, ¥5 lunch fueled me for a contemplative walk around the temple, a moment of gratitude and reflection. The serene tranquility of Qinghe Street 清河坊 and Southern Song Imperial Street 南宋御街, followed by the lively buzz of Hefang Street 河坊街, provided a perfect contrast, capping off a wonderful day.
