#Mount Huangshan Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Huangshan
Huangshan, located in the southern part of Anhui Province, is one of the most famous mountainous scenic areas in China, and is also known as "the most beautiful mountain in China". Its steep peaks, peculiar pines, strange rocks, and unpredictable sea of clouds are hailed as the classic works of Chinese landscape. Below I will introduce you to the experience of playing in the Huangshan Scenic Area.
First of all, the magnificent peaks of Huangshan are one of the most attractive landscapes here. These include the famous "Four Wonders": strange pines, strange rocks, sea of clouds, and hot springs. During the tour, you can follow the steep mountain roads, climb the Lotus Peak, Guangming Peak, Shixin Peak, etc., and appreciate these unique natural landscapes from different angles. When you reach the top, you will deeply appreciate the magnificent scenery of "Climbing Huangshan, returning from Yueyang Tower empty-handed".
Secondly, the sea of clouds in Huangshan is known as the "first of the five wonders of Huangshan", with clouds and mists lingering, and the sea of clouds tumbling. When you are in it, you will feel like you are in a fairyland. Especially in the morning and evening, watching the sea of clouds is even more unique, as if you are in a fairyland.
In addition, Huangshan also has a rich and diverse plant landscape. In the lush scenery of the mountains, you can also appreciate various precious plants, such as Huangshan Rhododendron, Huangshan Ranunculus, etc., which give people endless surprises.
In addition, Huangshan also has many famous scenic spots, such as: West Sea, North Sea, Emei, Yuping, etc., each scenic spot has its unique charm. Here, you can also taste local delicacies on the top of the mountain and feel the different style of Huangshan under the sunset.
In general, the Huangshan Scenic Area is a tourist attraction where natural landscapes and human history are combined. It not only has magnificent natural beauty, but also has a long history and cultural heritage. Whether you are looking at the towering peaks or walking along the mountain trails, you can feel relaxed and happy, and forget the troubles of the world for a while. I hope you have the opportunity to go to Huangshan in person and experience this tranquility and magnificence.
Only after going to Huangshan, I realized that ink painting is too conservative
Only after going to Huangshan, I realized that ink painting is too conservative.
We caught the sea of clouds in Huangshan in February this year!
This is Huangshan after the rain, the mountain is full of clouds and fog. Under the wind, the clouds and fog sometimes cover the mountain and sometimes appear. Each interval is a few minutes, and you have to seize the opportunity to press the shutter during these few minutes! Taking a series of 'ink paintings' is really a unique experience
A snowfall turns Huangshan into a fairyland on earth! Huangshan, a place that people long for
Transportation: Self-driving is the most convenient, and the highway conditions around Huangshan are very good!
:Public transportation directly to Huangshan North Station, do not take the taxi at the door, if you have booked a hotel or homestay, let them help you book a car for 30 per person.
You can also ask the boss to help book a car for normal travel
Food: Huangshan roast cake is a must-eat, the meat is thick and juicy, crispy and delicious! Stinky mandarin fish depends on the individual, anyway, I vomited after eating it, and there is also hairy tofu
Accommodation: The accommodation conditions on the mountain are very good, and the price is not expensive! But only one bed is given, there is no need to stay on the mountain if you don't watch the sunrise.
Route: Yuping cableway, start from there, Bright Summit~Welcoming Pine~Then to the cableway, it's almost a day like this, walking around.
:There is less food on the mountain, bring your own food, there are
Burgers for sale at the bottom of Bright Summit, very cheap. If you are hungry, you can replenish energy there.
:If you want to go to other places to play the day after climbing Huangshan, you can go to Hongcun, or Xidi, Lucun, but the distance is a bit far, you can also stroll around the foot of Huangshan.
Hurry up and arrange it, go and see the last snowfall of 2023 with your loved one!
During the tour, remember to bring enough warm clothes, gloves, scarves,
Warm babies, etc. are all necessary. If you have a drone, be
Sure to bring it, the photos taken will be very beautiful!

5️⃣What to wear in Huangshan in winter?
🧤The three-layer outdoor clothing method is essential, and be sure to wear a hat and gloves. Remember: you won't feel cold while moving, but you will feel cold no matter how you dress when you stop.
🔔Sweat-wicking inner layer: Synthetic fibers, wool, or silk tights
🔔Insulating middle layer: Fleece, wool sweater, down jacket as a second choice
🔔Wind and rainproof outer layer: Any windproof clothing will do (for good photos)
👟Shoes: Hiking shoes are the first choice, otherwise comfortable sports shoes. If you feel slippery, buy ice claws on the mountain
6️⃣Mountain bus is 19 yuan
🚌No matter where you come from (Tangkou Town, South Gate of Huangshan), you need to take the 19 yuan mountain bus. The bus transfer center is hard to find, it's recommended to use walking navigation (Xinguoxian Zhaixi Transfer Center). The downhill bus will stop at several points, which are displayed on the back of the ticket, don't get off at the wrong stop.
7️⃣Food and drink on the mountain are guaranteed
🍱Supplies on the mountain are hard to come by, so it's understandable if they're expensive. You can bring your own self-heating rice, biscuits, etc. Be sure to bring a thermos, there's free 40-degree warm water in the mountain's public toilets.
🔴Finally, climbing with a heavy load is tiring, it's best not to bring a suitcase. There are stairs to the nearest hotel after getting off the cable car, just bring a change of underwear.
I wander in the mountain ravines for thousands of miles, my life is free as the wind,
The mountain does not see me, I go to see the mountain~

Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui: The autumn scenery is gradually becoming picturesque
Recently, I had the privilege of visiting the Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui, climbing to the top of the mountain, and experiencing the breathtaking natural beauty. Under the sunlight, I saw the vigorous strange pines, the continuous peaks, and the majestic rocks. What surprised me was that the beautiful scenery here not only makes people linger, but also makes people deeply intoxicated.
After entering the Huangshan Scenic Area, I climbed up the winding stone steps step by step. The design of these stone steps is very clever, which can ensure the safety of tourists and allow people to enjoy the fun of climbing. Along the way, I stopped from time to time to appreciate the surrounding scenery. The clouds in the mountains are lingering, like a scroll between heaven and earth, giving people a feeling of being in a different world.
When I reached the top of the mountain, I truly experienced the magnificence of Huangshan. The strange peaks and rocks, whether standing, lying down, static or dynamic, constitute a breathtaking scene. I saw the famous 'Lotus Peak', which has a unique shape and looks like a blooming lotus; and 'Monkey Watching the Sea', which seems to be looking into the distance, giving people a sense of agility. Each strange peak has its own unique charm, making people linger.
In addition to the strange peaks and rocks, the natural scenery of Huangshan is also very charming. I saw a dense pine forest, the trees are lush and dripping, giving people a fresh and pleasant feeling. At the same time, the streams in the mountains are gurgling, adding a touch of vitality to the entire mountain range. The charm of nature here makes people intoxicated and forgets all worries.
The experience of visiting Huangshan made me deeply feel the magic of nature. The majestic and magnificent, dangerous and peculiar scenery here makes people feel like they are in a fairyland. I hope that through my sharing, I can attract more people's attention to the natural beauty. It is because of these beautiful natural landscapes that we can feel the charm of nature, cherish and protect our environment more. Let us walk into nature together, appreciate the magical scenery, and feel the beauty and tranquility it brings to us.
I didn't manage to capture the sea of clouds and rime on my second trip to Mount Huangshan, but I'll come back again
This is my second time climbing Mount Huangshan. The last time was in mid-June three years ago, during the plum rain season. It was raining and foggy, and I couldn't see anything. This time, although the weather was clear, the air quality was average, and neither the sunrise nor the sunset were ideal, let alone the sea of clouds and rime! The weather forecast showed a 60% chance of a sea of clouds, but there was none at all. I reluctantly took some pictures, but I'll come back again!
Everything is just right for the trip to Huangshan (a quite comprehensive guide, feel free to ask)
Choose the right weather, otherwise the Huangshan you see will look like the last two pictures. Go up the mountain from the back and down from the front, otherwise you'll climb until you doubt life. I'm the kind of person with relatively poor physical strength, this route is just right for me, I can't accept a bit from the front mountain up.
3. For those chubby friends who go up the Lotus Peak from the back mountain, if you want to challenge yourself and see the incredibly dangerous scenery on the platform, I recommend going down from the front mountain. I'm extremely grateful that I went down from the front mountain, the scenery is really good! But also act according to your ability, my friend slipped several times when going down the front mountain, I also occasionally ask passers-by to give me a hand, the climbers are very united!
4. This time I climbed the Bright Summit and Lotus Peak, a great achievement in life completed! Happy! I'm not very tired climbing Lotus Peak, because of the queue, I can climb slowly, my friend can't rush me haha
5. Recommend staying on Bright Summit, there are astronomical telescopes at night, I saw Saturn for the first time, very excited. I saw the sunset glow, stars, sunrise, satisfied! I don't know much about other mountain top hotels, I hate looking at guides, it's foggy so I directly ask friends who have been there for recommendations, but Baiyun is a long uphill road from Bright Summit, if I stay in Baiyun, I probably won't come out to see the stars and sunrise
Climb Mount Huangshan to watch the sunrise
It is recommended to climb the front mountain first, the uphill route starts from Tangkou, take a bus to Ciguang Pavilion to get off. Then you can take the cable car directly to Yuping Building, and those with good physical strength can also climb all the way up. The uphill route of the back mountain, take a bus from Tangkou to Yungu Temple, the whole journey from Yungu Temple to Baie Ridge is 15 Huali, and the climbing time is about 3 hours; 3. The uphill route of the North Gate, these two routes are both from the South Gate Enter, the difference is just whether to go up the mountain from the front or back mountain.
Precautions for climbing Huangshan:
1. Pay attention to the weather forecast of Huangshan and check how the weather is on the day
2. Necessary items to prepare: ID documents, backpacks, gloves, sunscreen, flashlights, mobile phones, cameras, chargers, disposable raincoats, etc .;
3. Accommodation on the top of Huangshan is particularly tight and needs to be booked in advance.
4. Be careful of the mountain road when going up the mountain after it has rained or is wet with dew.
5. Maps and walking sticks do not need to be brought, and there are free gifts at the Tofu Inn.

Hike in the clouds
Huangshan is one of the most famous and well known mountains in China. Commonly referred to as ‘yellow mountain’ it is a popular and well traveled hiking spot for Chinese and expats alike. Located in Anhui province, this has some of the best views I’ve ever witnessed and is well worth a weekend of your time
I suggest you get here early to start the hike as at 1864M high it is not just a casual climb. I stayed at a nearby hotel overnight (there are many) and arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to tackle the ascend. The paths up are all regrettably stone steps, which does take some authenticity out of the experience. You can choose to take the cable car up to the top if you wish, that is up to you, however it is perfectly achievable to hike up and down in the same day There can be a large number of people hiking at the same time as you, and it can indeed be a bit of a frustrating experience, but don’t let that put you off, the juice is worth the squeeze. The highlight of the climb up was the workmen carrying sacks of rice up on a donkey, not something you see every day. The stairs are stable and have arm rail for most of the way up, there are plenty of rest stops along the way, and many viewing platforms as ascend into the clouds.
The nature going up is not terribly memorable to be honest, but its the views from the top that makes it worthwhile. There are several view points, such as lotus peak, celestial peak and bright peak, each with their own charm and appeal. You could visit all 3 if you liked, the signposts are very straightforward and easy to follow. The view will be radically different depending on the weather that day if it rains in the morning, you’ll likely see the ‘sea of clouds’ and if it s a sunny day you’ll get a view as far as the eye can see.
To go back down you again have the option of cable car or you can take the stairs down. Take these carefully as these can cause havoc to your knees and ankles.

#passionpassport
Huangshan, literally meaning the Yellow Mountain, is a mountain range in southern Anhui Province in eastern China. It was originally called “Yishan”, and it was renamed because of a legend that Emperor Xuanyuan once made alchemy here. We booked a tour and traveled in a group from Shanghai. From Shanghai to Huangshan town it took 4 hours by bus and from there we started our hike to Huangshan. We started hike in afternoon and reach on top where our Hotel was booked in Evening after dinner we slept and started hike again in morning to see sunrise but due to snowfall and rain we couldn’t see sunrise. In snow Huanshan was looking absolutely beautiful. It was cold but it was worth it. #passionpassport #beautifuldestinations #travelinsipiration

Huangshan - Hike in Snow
#passionpassport
When we started hiking Huangshan in Last week of January, it started snowing and whole trails and trees on the trail turned into white scenery. It was looking so wonderful that even hiking in extreme cold was worthwhile. It took us 6 hours to reach our hostel on the top. Weather became cold but it made scabbard beautiful. Paths were ski part so we used anti skid equipment in our shoes which we got from local market. There were many people who were hiking with us so if you are traveling solo you won’t feel alone. Must visit place in China. #beautifuldestinations #travelinsipiration #traveladdict #passionpassport

Quick 2 days trip to Huangshan
Here we go to one more descent place that have stolen my heart!
Huangshan UNESCO Global Geopark is 10 km2 area with the fantastic landscapes. The high speed train comes to Huangshan in the late evening, so I decided to stay a night in the town and in the morning I went to the country Tangkouzhen which is around 50 mins by car from the town. I heard there’re buses, too, but they start service at 9 am and you need around 1.5 h to get the place, but I didn’t want to waste time and ordered DiDi that cost around 170 yuan with the highway. I stayed in Tangkou for two full days, but as for me, you need around 3 days to see all the main spots in the park. Tangkou is quite good, developed and tourists oriented place. I went to the south gate to buy the ticket and you can choose Eastern or Western side. Firstly you buy the bus ticket for 19 yuan, so I went to the East first, the place in the first pic with the rough peaks. So you take the shuttle bus that brings you to the cableway. The entrance and one way cableway is 260ish yuan. Once you get off the cableway you can walk uphill where you can find the Welcoming Pine and many scenic spots. I didn’t go to all of them because the view is almost the same from there. After that, I decided to walk down on foot, it’s around 5.5 km down the hill and it took me 1.5 hours while the signs say it takes 3 hours. So the overall trip to the first spot took 4-4.5h.
The next day I went to the same gate and bought the ticket to the Western part and it was absolutely right decision because the western part is the way bigger and tiring, later I’ll tell you why. So, on this side, the shuttle bus takes you to another cableway which goes freaking high!!! After you got off the cableway, you can follow several paths: through the cave (a hole in the mountain) which is a bit harder or to go another way. I walked all the way to the third cableway but I didn’t take it because I was dreadfully tired, you know why? So, here’s the trick of this place… because there’re stairs everywhere EVERYWHERE I swear!!! you can’t imagine how much my calves were sore 😫 I couldn’t walk for the next two days lol. But it was definitely worth it. I was shocked when I saw the guys who provide service to carry ppl in the sedan chair up and downstairs on their shoulders 😨 they are 100% cyborgs.
So, the tips are:
- before you go to the cableway, there are some small shops, you should buy (I bought mine for 35 yuan but there are wooden one much cheaper) or take with you the hiking cane, it really helps a lot!
- go for a massage after hiking or at least bring your muscles pain relief ointment
- take MORE water. because the shops on the top are always out of stock
- don’t take the drone with you, they will not let you fly it
I wish you to have the best trips and please, take care of yourselves ❤️

Yellow mountains, Anhui
The Huangshan Mountains (the Yellow Mountains) are one of China’s most incredible natural wonders and welcome thousands of travelers every year. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. Xu Xiake, a famous geographer and writer from the Ming Dynasty, once remarked, “the landscape of the Five Famous Mountains tops those elsewhere, and the landscape of the Yellow Mountains tops that of the Five Famous Mountains.”.
The Yellow Mountains are famed throughout the world for their “four natural wonders” — peculiarly shaped pines, oddly formed rocks, the sea of clouds, and hot springs — which lend to their reputation of being “China’s strangest mountains.”#skiadventure
Yellow mountain- Huangshan
Yellow mountain or mount Huangshan is one of China’s best known scenic spot.
📍Location: Huangshan, Anhui province.
⏰ I recommend staying 2 nights on top of the mountain.
🏨: There are quite a few hotels to choose from.
I stayed at Baiyun and it was pretty decent.
Here’s the address: Near Haixin Pavilion, Tianhai Scenic Area, Huangshan, 245800, Anhui, China.
I had a blast at Yellow Mountain!
It’s absolutely beautiful and the sunrise was especially breathtaking.
There are quite a few flights of stairs to climb so be ready for a good hike.

A Thanksgiving Hike To Mt. Huangshan ⛰
Huangshan Mountain or Yellow Mountain is one of the most famous mountains, and for me the most beautiful in China. Located at the scenic area of Anhui province, it’s always flocked by domestic tourists, especially during the peak seasons.
There are several hiking routes up and around Huangshan, with the main 3 routes are the western steps, the eastern steps, and the west side canyon. We took the eastern steps, which is the quickest route with 3 hours hiking time.
The walking trails are all well-paved with stone steps, so I’d say it’s pretty safe even for beginners. And trust me, the breathtaking view on your entire way up is worth every steps!

MOUNT HUANGSHAN
Located in southern Anhui Province, Mount Huangshan covers an area of 250 kilometers, of which 154 square kilometers are scenic attractions. Its landscape features “four wonders” of imposing peaks, spectacular rocks, odd-shaped pines, and a sea of clouds.
Mount Huangshan boasts 72 peaks, more than 1,000 meters above sea level, with three main peaks rising majestically. They are both fascinating and dangerously steep. Cliffs, stone forests, stone pillars, stone blocks and egg-shaped stones form the unique granite geomorphological scenery. The pines on the mountain are tall and have fascinating shapes. The famous Welcoming Guests (Yingke) Pine (1,500 years old) and See-Guest-Off Pine have become a symbol of being faithful, unyielding and hospitable.

Thanksgiving
That moment when your hiking 🥾 trip has turned out to be a cloudy one, but there comes one moment when the sunshines so bright and you can see everything so clearly; such a dopamine effect isn't it ?! I too had the same. After I've already booked the hotel and train 🚂 tickets, through trip.com to go to Huangshan with all my hiking gears ⚙️ in place the day isn't really pleasant. Thankfully, I chose the right hotel because of nice comments from trip.com to Baiyun hotel🛍️. My two complete days of hiking involved not only sightseeing, but also interacting with lot of people, sign 🪧 boards and maps. To be honest, after a long time I did a solo tour like this and I feel so lucky for the convenience of booking, arrangement and especially the remainder about things to do in Trip.com🥸. Totally a nice one, and I had a good trip at Huangshan. #tripcom

Mountain Apex
Be ready to get your calf muscles trained, as it is going to be a 2.5 hours hike 🥾down the hill and the only leg muscle that will support will need immense strength. Yes, this time one way up the mountain 🏞️we took the cable car; but hiking down we were ready to give a try. Starting from turtle🐢 peak, we hiked down to Lotus pavilion at first which will take you some half an hour. If you’re strong enough mentally and physically you can go to reach the tallest peak in Huangshan(lotus peak), otherwise just look the top from bottom and move on to Greeting guests pine. Near to this spot there is an amazing valley view spot and also there are some grocery stores. After you reach the Halfway temple 🛕 it is only downwards, and I remember there was only one store on the way before we hit the bottom. Be yourself hydrated all the way, and have some pain relieve spray ⛑️with you; it’ll be handy. #hikefreak #huangshan
