#summervacay I recently took a day trip from Osaka's Shinsaibashi area to explore Mount Rokko and Mount Maya in Kobe, and here's how it went! Getting There: I walked to Nippombashi Station in Osaka and took the Kintetsu Nara Line directly to Kobe Sannomiya Station – no transfers needed, and you can use your Suica card. Rokko-Maya One-Day Pass: Upon arriving at Kobe Sannomiya Station, I found the Hanshin railway staff office and purchased the Rokko-Maya One-Day Pass - Hanshin version for ¥2,350 per person (there's also a Hankyu version, which is pricier). If you're starting from Umeda in Osaka, you can buy this pass directly at the Hanshin station there, and it will include your round-trip transportation between Osaka and Kobe. This one-day pass is a great deal, covering round-trip bus, train, and cable car rides for Mount Rokko, plus two Hanshin Electric Railway tickets for your Osaka round trip. Getting to Mount Maya: The station staff provided a very clear map for getting to Mount Rokko. From Kobe Sannomiya Station, I took the Number 18 bus to Maya Cable Station. From there, I boarded the "100th Anniversary" funicular train to Niji-no-Eki (Rainbow Station), and then transferred to the ropeway up to Hoshi-no-Eki (Star Station). As the name suggests, this trip went to Osaka and stopped by Kobe. Aside from the famous yakiniku restaurants that we went to eat in Kobe, the view is worth a million views, it can be said to be the third top view. We took a bus up Rokko Mountain to this viewpoint. Let me tell you, it was a cold night and we had to wait for the bus for a long time. But when we went up the mountain and saw the million-dollar view of Kobe, it made us feel so happy, it was worth the cold and we immediately felt warmer. Day 1 In the early morning light, I embarked on a journey to Mount Rokko. Taking the cable car slowly upwards, I overlooked the city and the sea at the foot of the mountain. The view gradually expanded, as if entering another world. Upon reaching the summit, I first visited the Rokko Mountain Ranch. The lush green grass and leisurely cows and sheep resembled a serene pastoral painting. I personally fed the lambs, feeling their warm touch, and then tasted the farm's homemade fresh milk ice cream, with its rich dairy flavor lingering on my tongue. In the afternoon, I strolled through the Rokko Mountain Garden, where the fragrance of flowers and plants wafted in the wind, making every spot a perfect photo opportunity. As the sun set, I headed to the Rokko Mountain Observatory to await the nightfall. When the lights of Osaka and Kobe twinkled below, the entire scene sparkled like jewels, leaving one breathless. Day 2 The next morning, I chose to explore the nature trails of Mount Rokko. The air in the forest was fresh, with birds chirping incessantly, accompanying the rhythm of my footsteps, as if playing a natural symphony. After reaching the highest point of Mount Rokko, the view before me was even more magnificent, with Osaka Bay shimmering in the sunlight in the distance. Then, I visited the Rokko Mountain Music Box Museum, which houses many antique music boxes. Listening to their melodies, I felt relaxed and joyful. At noon, I enjoyed a light meal at the museum's garden café, with the sunlight bathing me, as if merging with nature.
