Early Summer! The Moments I Keep Falling in Love with Kyoto!
Kyoto in early summer is a vast energy field🌿
Filled with enchanting details
Lush greenery and vitality everywhere🍃
Here are 3️⃣ curated routes
Spend two or three days soaking in Kyoto's beauty
✅Route ❶ Mizuiro-tei ➠ (🚶6min) Park Hyatt Kyoto ➠ (🚶2min) Ninenzaka ➠ (🚶2min) Akuya Chaya ➠ (🚶2min) Nishimuki-in ➠ (🚶3min) Meihoutei ➠ (🚶8min) Kiyomizu-dera
A perfect Citywalk route for early risers—arrive before 6:00 AM to have Kyoto all to yourself!
Stroll along ancient stone paths, past traditional wooden houses, where every quiet street is a photo-worthy backdrop. The 3-hour walk is mostly uphill (a bit tough on the legs), but Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka get crowded early, so the sooner you go, the better for photos. To save energy, you can reverse the route starting from Kiyomizu-dera.
✅Route ❷ Eikan-do Zenrin-ji ➠ (🚶7min) Nanzen-ji ➠ (🚶4min) Tenju-an ➠ (🚶4min) Blue Bottle Coffee ➠ (🚘8min) Kamo River
Experience Kyoto’s lush greenery without leaving the city. Sit on the veranda and admire the garden—ponds, bridges, rock formations—every glance reveals a new scene. Look up at towering trees, down at delicate moss, and lose yourself in layers of soothing green.
✅Route ❸ Rurikoin ➠ (🚘12min) Sanzen-in ➠ (🚶2min) Hosen-in ➠ (🚘30min) Kibune Shrine
This countryside route isn’t very transit-friendly, so hiring a car is ideal for a relaxed day trip.
At Rurikoin, the lacquered table on the second floor mirrors the view outside. Sanzen-in boasts ancient trees, moss-covered grounds, a babbling stream by a red bridge, and adorable Jizo statues. I personally love Hosen-in for its tranquility—sip matcha and enjoy sweets in a 270° garden view. Kibune Shrine glows magically at dusk; don’t miss the water fortune-telling or the riverside afternoon tea—pure bliss for cooling off in early summer!

The most beautiful walkway in Kyoto
On the way to Kiyomizudera Temple, you will find a path called Ninenzaka Path.
This is a path that teenagers must check in to get beautiful pictures. On both sides of the path are houses of Kyoto people. The back corner can see the tall shrines contrasting with the sky, making it very beautiful.
The atmosphere of the path is quite peaceful, very livable, but you may have to be careful of other tourists who come to take pictures.

Yasaka Pagoda Photo Spot, Kyoto
#Sakura2024
Yasaka Pagoda Photograph Spot 📸
The most popular photo spot in Kyoto is the old town area and Yasaka Pagoda.
From the morning to the evening, there will be a lot of people here. It is recommended to come early in the morning to take photos without other people in them.
As for us, we came during peak season, so we had to accept it and find a corner to avoid people. We were able to get some photos. 😹
There are some cherry trees to take photos with, and the photos are cute. 💜
How to get there: Take the Kyoto City Bus and get off at Kiyomizumichi.

Japan Travel Kyoto Ninenzaka Alley Stroll
#JapanTravel
✨️Ninenzaka✨️ is an area where you'll want to stop and wander around, with a variety of shops ranging from traditional Japanese sundries and confectionery shops to dessert shops and restaurants. Takehisa Yumeji, a popular painter and poet from the Taisho period, lived in this area for about two years starting in 1917, so there is a monument where he lived.

Kyoto without people!? How to take photos without people even on the weekend💗
Kyoto is very popular during the autumn leaves season. I went to Kyoto at that time 🎵 I wanted to take a photo without people in it, so I visited Ninenzaka before 7am (around 6:45am) in the early morning! There were about 15 foreigners on Ninenzaka at this time, but there weren't that many, so I waited a little and was able to take a photo without people in it 🥹 In fact, about two people were in it, but since it was just two, I used an eraser magic 🪄 Usually this slope is filled with people and it's hard to take photos 😭😭 It's almost impossible to not have people in it 😭 But if you choose the right time, all the shops will be closed, but if you're mainly interested in photos, be sure to go before 7am! I stayed at a nearby hotel and returned to the hotel before breakfast, but if you have time, it's also a good idea to visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple on the way 👍 Kiyomizu-dera Temple opens from 6am, so it's recommended for an early morning walk! Touring early morning photography spots 📸 Recommended course: Yasaka Pagoda → Ninenzaka → Sannenzaka Transportation: Walk from the hotel (I stayed at NOGA HOTEL KYOTO KIYOMIZU, so it was about a 15-minute walk) *I posted an article about NOGA HOTEL one time ago! Tips for success ✅Aim to reach Ninenzaka between 6 and 7am! 📝In autumn and winter, the sunrise is around 6:30, so if you go around that time, the morning glow will be beautiful! In summer, it's best to go earlier! ✅If possible, stay at a hotel within walking distance of Ninenzaka! #KyotoTourism #KyotoTouristSightseeing #PhotographyTechniques #PhotographySpots #WinterTrip #Ninenzaka #Sannenzaka #YasakaPagoda #FiveStoriedPagoda

If you don't go here, you'll definitely lose out.
🌟 Kyoto's top tourist spot 🌟
This is the place to be when you think of Kyoto!
Personally, it might be my favorite!
Even wearing a yukata
Going with your partner will be a memorable experience!👍
The path to the shrine is also a fun spot.
There are so many souvenir shops and teahouses.
Just walking around is exciting!✨
Snacks while walking around.
It's definitely fun!😂
The Starbucks on Ninenzaka is stylish inside, so I recommend it.
If you have the time, check it out!!!!

Japanese cuisine with a million-dollar view
Right now, we’re in Kyoto, dressed in traditional attire, and stumbled upon this amazing restaurant. The view here is absolutely stunning, as it’s located right next to a temple. It’s incredibly beautiful, especially during the daytime when it’s not crowded. This place is tucked away deep in an alley, making it a hidden gem. The dishes we ordered were both delicious. Honestly, in Japan, you can trust that almost every restaurant serves great food, so there’s no need to worry about the quality of your meal.

Kyoto sweets shop [Kasagiya]
It's been over a decade!
I was craving Kasagiya's zenzai!
It was a very hot day, but I ordered a warm zenzai.
Tamba's azuki beans are plump, the skins are soft, and they're large. 🫘
The beans, carefully cooked in a traditional Japanese stove, are the best!
The refined, gentle sweetness will blow away your travel fatigue!
The sugar blend is a company secret, so you can see the care they put into it.
This quaint old shop, I hope it stays in Ninenzaka forever! ✨

[Kyoto Travel Review] A Quiet Thrill at the End of an Alley
#JulyTravelSupport
Kyoto was a truly unique city. At first, it seemed quiet and monotonous, but the longer I stayed, the more lingering the memories rippled through my mind.
Each alley leading to Kiyomizu-dera Temple was postcard-like, especially beautiful in the evening when the lights came on. Even the whispers of the people walking beside me felt like background music.
At Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, the shops lined up beneath traditional tiled roofs, the scent of handmade pottery, incense, and warm matcha brought me a small sense of happiness.
Kyoto isn't a tourist destination or a place with any grand events, but it's a city I want to spend a whole day strolling through. It's in that slow pace that I find myself again.

[Kyoto] Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka
📍Nineizaka & Sanneizaka, Kyoto
A stroll along the stone-paved slopes that are the epitome of Kyoto!
Nineizaka and Sanneizaka, which stretch out on the road leading to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, are historic streets that are full of Kyoto-ness.
The stone-paved slopes are lined with townhouse cafes and souvenir shops, creating a soothing space where just walking through them will soothe your soul. 🍵🌿
👘Perfect for strolling in a kimono!
By the way, there's a superstition that if you trip on Sanneizaka, you'll fall within three years... 😱. Watch your step and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the slopes.

Kyoto Old Town
#TravelChat
Let's take a stroll, take photos, and explore the old town of Kyoto. This area is called Ninenzaka, a pedestrian street connecting Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Kodaiji Temple.
The most noticeable feature is the wooden pagoda. It was packed with people, and even though we arrived before 9:00 AM, it was already starting to get crowded.
After 10:00 AM, it was incredibly crowded.
Both sides of the street were lined with shops, restaurants, and souvenir shops. The stone-paved walkways made it a lively and beautiful area.
A must-visit for anyone visiting Kyoto.

There are various souvenir shops in Ninenzaka Sannenzaka, a famous tourist spot in Kyoto, so it is good for souvenir shopping. The souvenir shops inside the traditional buildings sell various Kyoto-specific souvenirs, such as famous Kyoto chopsticks and hairpins.
There are also traditional Kyoto sakes that can only be purchased here, so if you visit, be sure to check out the souvenir street.

Kyoto The Living Room Sakura Afternoon Tea
#Emotional Cafe
The living room cafe where afternoon tea is served has early cherry blossoms in full bloom and cherry blossoms are in full bloom on the tables. The lounge is decorated with cherry blossoms with cut flowers, making viewers exclaim in admiration.
The concept is the same as before. This is a place where afternoon tea is served in the form of a course meal. The first course is a tart topped with caviar, symbolizing spring when buds are blooming.
Enjoy it paired with champagne. Next, five dessert plates appear. The visual matches the name Sakura Afternoon Tea. The Sakura Jelly in the center is decoration.
It is said that it is edible, but has no taste. Enjoy eclairs, macarons, opera, strawberry mousse, and waffles with paired lemon herb tea.
This place provides pairing teas tailored to the course, adding depth to afternoon tea. The third course is pistachio and orange monaka. The oolong tea called Wind Drop (風のしずく) is paired.
The fourth is the main. It was a croquette made with Omi beef in the fall season of 22. This time, it is a cutlet. It is made with bamboo shoots and sea urchin and topped with sakura shrimp. Sakura shrimp is popular during the sakura season.
Kyoto's Iribancha (いり番茶) with a strong smoky flavor is paired. It is a green tea with a strong flavor, a rich first taste, and a soft aftertaste. It goes well with the croquette's fried coating.
The last is a soufflé with cherry blossoms and cherries. A plate of seasonal fruits with crunchy chocolate and happy birthday lettering is added. Flower tea is paired to add fragrance.
After the meal, we go up again after being guided to the view. Since I went there two years ago, I often come here. The weather was better than then, so I was able to see a beautiful night view. The staff are also very friendly and the satisfaction level is high. Thank you.

Kyoto Nostalgia Journey
Stepping into Kyoto feels like walking through a corridor of time, entering a serene and profound painting. Unlike the bustling Tokyo, Kyoto resembles a graceful elder, calmly narrating stories of a thousand years. The air here carries the scent of cypress wood mixed with the echoes of temple bells, bringing a sense of tranquility.
The first stop is Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Strolling along the lively Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka streets, the winding stone paths are lined with shops selling wagashi (Japanese sweets) and kimono. Women in kimono take delicate steps, and the sound of wooden clogs mingles with the tinkling of wind chimes, creating a gentle Japanese melody. Standing on the Kiyomizu stage, overlooking Kyoto's cityscape and layered mountains, a sense of clarity washes over, as if the years have been cleansed.
In the afternoon, sunlight spills onto Hanamikoji Street in Gion. Wooden machiya townhouses stand quietly, and occasionally, the fleeting figure of a maiko (apprentice geisha) appears. Sitting in an old teahouse, sipping matcha and tasting seasonal wagashi, the breeze gently brushes the bamboo blinds outside the window, and time seems to flow slowly.
At dusk, a walk through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove brings only the sound of rustling bamboo leaves and the wind. The lush greenery is tranquil and profound. Boarding a small boat to drift along the Hozugawa River, the shimmering waves reflect the sunset, while red maple leaves and ancient bridges on the riverbank create a picturesque scene, as if stepping into a ukiyo-e painting.
At night, stay in a century-old machiya inn. The scent of tatami mats and the soft rustle of paper doors evoke a deep sense of nostalgia. Late at night, brew a pot of sencha tea and reflect on the day's moments. Kyoto's beauty lies not in grandeur but in every detail and every peaceful moment that touches the heart.
Kyoto is a journey of the soul. It is not dazzling, yet deeply captivating; it is not noisy, yet richly profound. Walking through Kyoto feels like whispering with your past self, rediscovering your original intentions in the quiet. This nostalgic journey is not just a trip but a quiet and profound life experience.
