The Pyramid of Honor
I preferred this over El Castillo. Its design is unlike anything else in Mesoamerica. Also, El Castillo seemed to sit alone with nothing but tourists. This looked much more natural and as if it belonged here.
The highest structure in Uxmal, this pyramid is a symbolic building of Maya architecture. It has a unique oval plan with three massive platforms supporting two temples. The shape of the pyramid is thought to reflect the shape of the traditional thatched Maya roofs. It is also noteworthy that the pyramid's height is 115 feet, which is 17 feet taller than the famous El Castillo at Chichen Itza. The two sides of the pyramid are very different. The eastern side is plain with monumental simple stairs, while the western side is elaborately decorated with two temples, both richly carved with details. As far as I know, it is the only structure in Uxmal that tourists cannot climb.
One of the most famous and largest step pyramids in Mexico! The Pyramid of the Magician is located in a Maya city named Uxmal in Yucatan, surrounded by a green park. Before the Columbian era, two teams played a deadly game called 'juego de pelota'. The Magician's Uxmal Pyramid is a must-see item and an important relic of the Maya civilization.
