Save this for the last stop to complete your pilgrimage and dedicate your wishes. If all five temples are in your itinerary, we recommend following the route in the order listed above (1-2-3-4-5). Every year, there is an endless stream of pilgrims, and there is almost no off-season. If this is your first time there, with your children or parents, then this guide of mine may be useful to you. 🥳🥳🥳 🚘Transportation: We drove from Shanghai, about 3 hours, and stopped at Zhujiajian Wugongzhi Wharf; if you are from other far away cities, there is an airport in Putuoshan, you can check if there is a direct flight, if not, transiting in Ningbo is also an option. Parking: Wugongshi Wharf is a relatively large wharf where you can park your car and take a boat directly. 🛳️Boat tickets and entrance tickets: purchased through the mini program "Putuoshan Yimatong", 190 yuan for adults (entrance ticket + round-trip boat ticket), 90 yuan for children (6-14 years old), 130 yuan for seniors (60-69 years old). The ticket price for Putuoshan will be adjusted depending on whether it is the peak tourist season. For example, the ticket price on February 21st is 220 yuan. 🏡Accommodation: Since the last time I came here was in 2008, I am not sure about the regional distribution of hotels. In the end, I chose a homestay very close to Puji Temple. The room conditions are okay, but the homestay is in a residential area (Longsha District 2). This residential area is still under construction and there are constructions everywhere. The external environment is not very good. The homestay is self-service check-in, and communication with the owner is all through WeChat. When I was traveling, I saw several good large hotels and checked the room prices. They were not too expensive, so I still recommend booking a hotel. 🍜Food and Beverage: There is a Xingfu Canteen less than 10 minutes’ walk away. It is run by the government and is clean and hygienic. However, its business hours are strictly limited and it will not open before the designated time. There are other restaurants such as Jujube Tree across the tunnel, which is very convenient. The prices on the island are a little more expensive, but within an acceptable range. 🏖️Travel: We went to Puji Temple in the morning on the first day. After worshiping Buddha, we followed the crowd to the Puji Temple bus stop. Here the children saw the beach and played on the beach for an hour. Then they queued up to take the bus to Shancai Cave. There were not many tourists around the 22nd of the twelfth lunar month, so we went straight into Shancai Cave without queuing. Soon, we wanted to go to Fanyin Cave, but the children didn’t want to go, so we queued up to take the bus to Nanhai Guanyin. After getting off Nanhai Guanyin, we walked along the beach to the pier. We saw more and more beautiful stones, took pictures, and found that it was not far to walk to the homestay, just over ten minutes. In this way, we had walked nearly 20,000 steps in a day. The next morning, I went to Puji Temple to worship again and got some beautiful bracelets. I took the boat back and had the Zaozishu vegetarian buffet at the pier on the opposite bank. It was pretty good, so I drove back after the meal. So when you come to Putuo Mountain, just visit a few must-see attractions. There is no need to visit every attraction, as that would be too tiring.
