2024 Travel Memories: Beneath the Pyramids, Where History and Reality Intertwine
Hey everyone👋! My trip to the Egyptian pyramids in 2024 was definitely a highlight! Today, I'm excited to share this unforgettable experience with you all🎉.
I've seen the pyramids countless times in books and on screens, but the moment I stood at their base and looked up, the excitement was overwhelming😆. It's a kind of awe that you can only experience firsthand.
Our first stop was the Giza pyramid complex, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Located on the Giza plateau southwest of Cairo, it consists of the Great Pyramid of Giza (Khufu), the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, shining like brilliant pearls in the long river of history🌟.
The Great Pyramid of Giza, the largest and oldest of the Giza pyramids, was built by the pharaoh Khufu of the Fourth Dynasty, dating back over 4,600 years! Before the Eiffel Tower was even a thought, it was the tallest structure in the world. How amazing is that👍!
The Pyramid of Khafre, the second largest pyramid at Giza, is the masterpiece of Khufu's son, Khafre. It sits at the highest point in Giza, and surprisingly, it appears even taller than the Great Pyramid. It also has a distinctive feature—a white "milk top." This is because it was built with finely polished, high-quality limestone blocks, although now only the top remains. Even so, its unique charm is undeniable🤩. Standing guard in front of this pyramid is the famous Sphinx! It's part of Khafre's mortuary complex, carved from a single massive block of limestone, and is seen as a symbol of Khafre, mysterious and majestic😎.
The Pyramid of Menkaure is the tomb of Khafre's son, Pharaoh Menkaure. Its unique feature is its outer casing of granite blocks, making it strong and dignified.
After our close encounter with the pyramids, we opted for a horse-drawn carriage ride to admire them from afar. As the horse clip-clopped along, the three great pyramids remained our constant companions, sometimes ahead, sometimes behind. When we reached the perfect vantage point in the distance, the view was simply unforgettable! Nine pyramids stood proudly in the golden desert, overlapping and interwoven, a truly magnificent sight! In the distance, the city skyline appeared hazy, and in that moment, history and reality blended seamlessly before our eyes. It was a feeling beyond words🥰.
