#Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Monkeying Around in Ubud
During our one day trip to Ubud, we stopped by the Monkey Forest Sanctuary and were delighted to see so many monkeys. These monkeys were not aggressive, but we did see one jump on a lady visitor because she may have been wearing something that caught the monkey’s attention, so visitors should be aware. We say many monkeys diving into water and swimming, many monkeys grooming eat other, and many monkeys looking for food or eating food that staff or tourists were feeding them (visitors can pay for corn to feed the monkeys).

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary 🐒
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a nice place to go to see some monkeys. But really this sanctuary is more about the forest and temple inside. The monkeys are
an amusement. It's the ancient banyan trees with their flowing roots traversing the landscape and hugging the temple that really make this place worth the visit. You may only need a couple hours at most to see everything. Definitely a place to see if you're in Ubud.

Wandering in Bali Monkey Forest
#wecreate
Known as the "Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary," this enchanting haven serves as a testament to Bali's deep reverence for nature, its rich spiritual heritage, and the unique connection between humans and animals. Monkeys are considered sacred in Balinese Hinduism, roam freely within the forest, captivating visitors with their playful antics and endearing charm. As you wander through the ancient trees and winding pathways, you'll find yourself immersed in a world where humans and monkeys share a profound connection.
Beyond its natural allure, the Monkey Forest holds deep spiritual significance for the Balinese people. The forest is home to three sacred temples—Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal, Pura Beji, and Pura Prajapati—each playing a crucial role in Balinese Hindu rituals and ceremonies. The temples are adorned with intricate stone carvings, moss-covered walls, and statues depicting Balinese deities, creating an atmosphere of profound spirituality and reverence.
Visitors to the Monkey Forest are invited to explore these ancient temples, participating in the rituals and ceremonies that take place within their sacred walls. Balinese Hindus often visit the temples to make offerings, seek blessings, and connect with the divine. Witnessing these spiritual practices provides a unique opportunity to observe Balinese culture and gain insight into their deeply rooted beliefs.

Monkey forest Ubud, Bali 🙈
For 100,000 each (roughly £6) you can enjoy as long as you want at the monkey forest, ubud. The monkeys roam freely and the visitors and strictly not to touch or approach the monkeys. Throughout the park there are ‘rangers’, men who supervise monkey activity and monitor the interaction between the public, they also offer to sit a monkey on your lap and take photos, but this is done for an extra price. The monkeys are not trained to do this and it’s important to remember they’re still wild, so caution is recommended.
Overall we spent 2 hours walking around the forest, which isn’t very big, and exited through a market exit.

Ubud Monkey Forest!
Always wanted to go to Ubud monkey forest whilst I’m here in Bali and I don’t regret the experience. The forest is so calm and peaceful, the monkeys there live life in harmony with all the tourists that come strolling through. You have an option to have a guide with you or go it alone, it’s perfectly safe as long as you follow the guidelines. There also some helpful staff that can help you take pictures with the monkeys(at a certain fee of course)
It’s definitely a place worth exploring.

Ubud Monkey Forest 🌳
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a place that you can’t miss if you are in the city of Bali.
As this landmark is far from the city, you need to arrange private transportation to get there or buy a half day tour which is quite popular. This tour will arrange round trip transportation in comfortable buses.
The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours.
The forest is well maintained, in fact this is a nature reserve and Hindu temple complex.
There is lots of walking and stairs so be sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear
Pay attention to the dress code. Short pants not accepted. You can rent sarong there to cover your legs.
The hiking trails are not really demanding so you can go at your own pace to enjoy the amazing views of the surrounding jungle.
It opens to the public everyday from 8:30 am to 6 pm.

MONKEY FOREST AT
The Ubud Monkey Forest is home to over 700 grey long-tailed macaques. Also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal, this natural sanctuary has paved pathways through a leafy nutmeg forest as well as several ancient temples under dense foliage.
The forest also has several ancient temples with guardian statues covered in moss. Popular sites include the 14th-century Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal and Pura Prajapati, which is dedicated to village funerals. Relics and statues are under dense foliage with little sunlight, resulting in a mysterious and ancient vibe.
The Ubud Monkey Forest is within a 10-minute walk of most guesthouses and resorts along the main roads of Jalan Hanoman and the namesake Jalan Monkey Forest.

The Incredible Monkey Forest in Bali
You NEED to visit this beautiful Monkey Forest in Bali. It is located in Ubud near downtown. There are hundreds of monkeys everywhere. 😱I confess I was a little bit scared but it’s safe. The entrance fee is something around 2 or 3 euros and completely worth! The Bali architecture just turn everything more beautiful. It all looks like a dream! 👏🏻 Bali is the best island in Indonesia. We rented our hotel in Trip.com. I can’t wait to be back!

My favorite place of tourist attractions in Ubud! I like Monkeys so much so no wonder why i like this place. The monkeys here are more well behaved than the monkeys at Uluwatu temple. They were also so smart. i bought bananas and put them in my bag. then they just climbed to my body and took all the bananas. so funny and cute at the same time.

The sacred monkey forest park is located in Ubud, Bali. The park is surrounded by ancient trees and the unique Balinese macaques live here.
Bali residents think they are the subordinates of the monkey Hanuman, so they worship the monkeys as gods.
Before departure, we were told that the monkeys are stubborn, don't have eye contact with them, don't put their hands in the trouser pockets, don't carry colorful bags, don't feed, all the precautions are only one purpose---don't let the monkeys I feel that you have food or you will be robbed.
I have heard more natural fears. What is the difference between a monkey and a robber? When I arrived at the park, I found out that it was not the case. There was a lot of food in the public area. The sweet potato corn was full of baskets, which were provided by the staff of the park. The monkeys enjoyed the delicious food and let the tourists pose.
This is also a religious and cultural destination. The local residents protect the forest according to the Hindu Tri Hita Karana, and achieve spiritual happiness and physical health through the harmonious relationship between man, nature and God.

The Bali Monkey Forest is located in the Ubud area. The Balinese macaques can be seen on the streets near the park. They will look for food on the roadside. After entering the park, I found out that it was like a secret garden. Almost opaque green plants and small monkeys everywhere. The staff will say, "Don't feed them. If you don't feed them, they don't understand that you have food. You won't develop the habit of asking for food. It's good for them, and for ourselves." On the day of the trip, we just caught up with the local festivals. There are nearly 200 religious festivals in Bali every year. There is a temple in the center of the Monkey Park, but visitors cannot enter. Park tickets are 40k a person, open from 8:00 to 18:00.

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is home to over 1,200 monkeys. As you walk alongside them, you can also check out all the elaborate temples in the area. Great place to see lots of Monkeys! 🙈🙉🙊 Loved the statues and carvings, forest itself and the Temple. It can be very busy though...but the place is big enough to find quieter corner. We had the most fun here today exploring this jungle like temple place with several different monkey families living freely. Must visit for once.👍🏻

#indonesiatrip We spent a few hours here in the afternoon and it was stunning!
As the title depicts, it is a forest setting with free roaming monkeys! It's is incredible and I am so glad we went!
Admission is really reasonable, and the money assists the upkeep and running of the reserve.
The monkeys are adorable and cheeky. They aren't phased by the number of people around but give them their space also. However if you have food or drink, they will come and assume it is for them. Best leave those snacks at home or in a bag.
There are also many sacred sites around the lot, many of them containing temple scriptures which are stunning, but off limits to those who are not there for prayer.
If you are in the area, be sure to stop in!

Agnes @ Ubud Monkey Forest
I visited this attraction 12 years ago when I came to Bali, and I didn't think much of it at the time, it was a pretty ordinary place. But this time, because of a different experience, I can't forget it.
This attraction and the Ubud Palace are at the two ends of the main road in Ubud. On the side of the road near the Monkey Forest, you can see monkeys in twos and threes. Perhaps because the vegetation in the park is special, the monkeys all like to live in this area. There are a lot of monkeys inside, and you can also see many monkey mothers with their babies, and there are monkeys of all ages. It takes about 1.5 hours to stroll around the entire park. There is also a cafe inside. You can enter under the protection of layers of iron fences. There are coffee drinks inside, but it is not recommended to take them out of the cafe, otherwise they will be snatched by monkeys in minutes.
When I was swinging with my child in a relatively remote forest, a monkey climbed up from my calf to my head, and sat on my head eating corn. I was so scared that I fainted, and I couldn't shake it off after a few shakes. At this time, the second monkey climbed up my calf. To put it bluntly, I was almost scared to death at the time. Fortunately, my mother was next to me and used a branch to pull them away. It was not easy to get rid of them. The monkey sitting on my head also reached out to touch the things in my bag. Although I was scared to death on the spot, compared with the monkeys at Lover's Cliff later, the monkeys here are already much gentler. I don't know what attracted the two monkeys to climb on me...
I suggest that when you come here, you should take care of your belongings and try not to make yourself a target😰

Embarking on a wild adventure at Bali's Ubud Monkey Forest, we opted for a quick car ride (around 100,000 Indonesian Rupiahs with tip) instead of the nearby 20-minute walk from downtown.
Upon reaching the ticketing office, we paid 100,000 Rupiahs each and carefully reviewed the park rules.
As we stepped into this enchanting forest, the monkeys stole the show with their playful antics, especially the little ones.
Despite our best efforts to adhere to the park rules, one mischievous monkey couldn't resist the allure of something my friend had.
Weekends at the Monkey Forest featured entertaining monkey shows, and amidst the lush greenery, we discovered a delightful café and charming shops. 🐒🌳

The monkey forest in Ubud was a unique experience. It's nature meets culture. The monkeys are free roaming and will even come sit on your lap if you wait. The monkeys in Ubud will not try to purposefully steal your things. And of course they are so cute!
