#Shihmen Reservoir Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The beauty of Ningbo! This place isn't Jiuzhaigou, yet it can move you to tears with its beauty!
Tucked away in the valley is a lake~ It's so beautiful that I can only say what the eyes see is ten thousand times more beautiful than the pictures, and the weather today isn't even that great.
If it were a big, big sunny day, it would probably be even more beautiful.
Navigation instructions: Drive towards Lupu Village, or take bus 653 to reach Lupu Station.
Road conditions: It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the campsite, and less than 2 kilometers to the reservoir. This section of the road offers the most pleasant scenery. If you do not wish to continue, you can choose to return the same way, with the total distance being about 3.5 kilometers. If you have enough energy, you can choose to walk around the reservoir, which is about 5 kilometers in total.
!Special attention:
When walking around the reservoir, be sure to take the road close to the reservoir, which is to choose the left road at the fork. Otherwise, you may end up taking a much longer route.
.....
♥Reasons for recommendation:
① The scenery is charming, and the journey is not long,
Apart from climbing stairs to get to the reservoir, the rest of the paths are generally flat.
② There is a Lupu Mountain campsite along the way
If you don't want to walk too far, you can choose to spend an afternoon here, where you can barbecue, stream trek, and other activities, and there are facilities and projects suitable for children. During hot weather, many people choose to sit in the stream, adults chatting, and children playing in the water.
③ Shimen Reservoir
Climbing to the top of the mountain, the view suddenly opens up.
There is a coffee shop here, but when we went on the weekend, the owner was not there, so don't have too high expectations of climbing up here and then enjoying a cup of coffee. It is recommended to buy some drinks at the village entrance parking lot or when passing by the campsite.
"Hometown of Chinese Plank Roads"
Hanzhong Shimen Ancient Plank Road and Shimen Reservoir are located in Baogukou in the middle reaches of Bao River. It is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Plank Roads" and the "Water Conservancy Pearl of the Northwest", and it is also the hometown of Baoji in the historical legend of "King You of Zhou played with the princes with beacon fires, and the Zhou dynasty perished with a thousand gold smiles". The ancients said: "The road to Shu is difficult, and it is harder to go up to the blue sky". Since the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, in order to cross the Qinling Mountains to Shu, the ancients drilled holes in the cliffs along the Bao River valley, used horizontal wood as beams, vertical wood as pillars, laid wooden boards on top, and installed railings to form plank roads. The carriages and horses walk in the air, which is extremely dangerous and spectacular. It starts from Baogukou in Hanzhong in the south and reaches Xieyuguan in Meixian in the north, so it is called "Baoxie Plank Road". The famous historical battle "Repair the plank road in the open, and cross the warehouse secretly" happened here. Nature never lacks creativity, it combines strangeness, danger, and beauty in one place, creating amazing mountain rocks. The perfectly placed Tiger Roaring Pavilion is like a divine brush. Autumn is intoxicatingly beautiful and short-lived, escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and head to the wilderness of nature. Let's go, go to Shimen Plank Road to "find autumn"~
