Songpinggou is a great autumn destination around Chengdu.
Songpinggou is nicknamed 'Little Jiuzhaigou', and its scenic spots are mostly named after those in Jiuzhaigou, albeit on a smaller scale. Each attraction is not very large and has not been deliberately constructed; you have to search carefully to discover its hidden beauty.
Address: Inside Diexi Town, Mao County, Aba Prefecture, about 240KM from Chengdu, approximately 4 hours. Ticket: Single ticket 70 RMB per person, sightseeing car ticket one-way 50 RMB per person, round-trip 70 RMB per person. Tour route: Changhai - Colorful Pond - Cui Bamboo Gully - Pearl Waterfall - Ink Sea - Exit (Baishi Sea).
Altitude: about 2200-2900, no risk of altitude sickness. Time for visit: half a day to one day. Main attractions:
1 Baishi Sea (the largest 'sea' in the scenic area, where you can take a yacht for 60 RMB per person), the red leaves along the plank road are very beautiful, a popular spot for red leaves photos.
2 Ink Sea (a rather unique 'sea', the water is as deep as blue ink).
3 Colorful Pond (a mini version of Jiuzhaigou's Colorful Pond, with colorful forests on one side and rugged rocks on the other).
Changhai (the highest 'sea' in the scenic area, a barrier lake formed after an earthquake).
Baila Sea (divided into Upper Baila Sea and Lower Baila Sea, with layers of forests in full color, and the streams and colorful forests are very splendid and varied).
Notice:
The scenic area has two ticket checkpoints. After the first checkpoint, continue driving past the second checkpoint to park.
The attractions along the route from Baishi Sea to Ink Sea to Colorful Pond to Changhai are inside the second checkpoint, and the ticket is valid for one day.
Baila Sea is located between the two checkpoints, with no restrictions on the ticket. Accommodations within the scenic area are mainly located in Baila Village.
