19th Century Europe in Vietnam!
Saint Joseph’s Cathedral in Hanoi is a fascinating example of neo-gothic European architecture from the 19th century in the heart of one of Southeast Asia’s biggest metropolitan areas. The inside of the cathedral is distinctively more modern than the external facade would suggest, which makes the cathedral a rather unique. In many ways the cathedral is a strange balance of East and West, old and new, religious and secular. The area around the cathedral is filled with artisan restaurants, takeaways, coffee shops, and bars. Therefore this church and its surroundings are a must-visit site for anyone visiting Hanoi.#Cathedral #Hanoi #vietnam
🥰The Beautiful St.Joseph’s Cathedral🥰
🇻🇳Our Hanoi Happenings 🇻🇳
We visited the St.Joseph’s Cathedral on Nha Chung (Church) Street, it is the oldest Catholic church in Hanoi. It was very convenient to walk from the Old Quarter. This was one of the first structures built by the French colonial government in Indochina when it was first opened in December 1886 and completed in 1888. In spite of the long wars that destroyed major parts of Hanoi, St Joseph’s Cathedral is still in good condition. Today, it is a historical attraction in Hanoi which remains the image of the beauty of the old Hanoi. This Church makes an impression of the ancient beauty of Hanoi and it is definitely a must-visit sight!

Hanoi
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam,
It is also the cultural capital of Vietnam.
Temples and churches, ancient streets and theaters...
Strolling in Hanoi, discoveries everywhere.
The beauty of the fusion between the East and the West.
St. Joseph's Cathedral, the oldest Catholic church in Hanoi, has a Gothic architectural style that gives it a hint of the charm of Notre Dame de Paris. The exquisite stained glass inside the church is worth seeing, with each depicting a different biblical story. Hoan Kiem Lake, located in the center of Hanoi, is a great place for local residents to relax and play. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, the lakeside road turns into a huge open-air night market, where you can enjoy the lake view and taste roadside snacks. Water puppetry is a traditional stage play in Vietnam, with stories mostly drawn from folk life. Puppeteers need to stand underwater to manipulate the puppets, which is a great test of skill. The Thang Long Water Puppet Theater in Hanoi still offers the opportunity to enjoy such traditional drama.
Roman Catholic in Hanoi
St Joseph Cathedral is located at 40 Nha Chung Street, Hang Trong Ward near Hoan Kiem Lake. It is around 950 meters 12 minutes walk from Ly Thai To Monument.
The construction of St Joseph Cathedral took place from 1884 to 1887, and looks like a small simulation of Notre Dame de Paris. It had a length of 64.5 meters and a width of 20.5 meters. The facade consists of two square bell towers with a height of 31.5 meters and a big clock in the center, on top of it is the stone cross. In front of the church, there is a statue of Mother Maria made of copper and around are decorated with iron fences, flowers and trees.
The interior windows are fitted with colourful tall stained glass and high domes, around are pictures of Jesus Christ.

St. Joseph’s Cathedral #hanoivietnam
This is located in the old quarter. It’s in the city center. Amazing architecture gothic revival. It’s wonderful to see its vivid colors glimmering at night. It’s a must to visit this place.
This Cathedral in the middle of Hanoi is beautiful. The grounds are kept clean and tidy and the architect is amazing. Within the grounds there are murals and benches to sit out of the shade. Inside the Cathedral is stunning. The stations of the cross and the artwork on the ceiling is fantastic. I would ask people who visit to observe the holly sanctuary and follow the ruling on covering up.

St. Joseph's Cathedral is the largest church in Hanoi and is a neo-Gothic style of two spires. The interior of the church is beautifully decorated with beautiful stained glass. The exterior wall was originally constructed of black and white stone, which has been turned into black by corrosion and weathering. The bell tower of the church will ring the clock every hour, watching the church built like the Notre Dame de Paris, listening to the bells of the bell tower, can not help but remind people of the clock in the Notre Dame de Paris.
There is a school behind the church, but it is time for school, and many children are playing around the church. There is a wall painting behind the church. The wall painting is about the birth of the "Three Kings to the DPRK" story. It is said that when Jesus was born, a dazzling giant appeared in the sky above Bethlehem. When the stars flashed over Bethlehem, they were seen by three doctors in the East. The three doctors are saints and astrology. They know that this is the signal of the birth of the Savior. They ride camels, climb the mountains, desert, and wear plains. Follow the guidance of the stars and come to Bethlehem to find the Son Jesus to worship. . The
wall paintings are in place, but it has become a place to park motorcycles.
St. Joseph's Cathedral, also known as the Hanoi Cathedral, is the oldest church in Hanoi. It is said to be built like the Notre Dame de Paris. It has medieval style and is a representative of French architecture in Hanoi. It was built in 1886, it is a Neo-Gothic style.
Although the appearance seems a bit mottled, the main interior of the church, the stained-glass window, and the square tower are worth seeing. The church door will only open when mass is held. The rest of the time, visitors need to enter from the side door which is in the alley on the left side of the church.
Nha Tho Street, opposite the Nha Tho Lon & Around, is home to Hanoi's emerging boutique shops and cafes, plus traditional French architecture and large trees, where you can enjoy a bit of leisure and romance.
The St. Joseph's Cathedral in Hanoi is a landmark building. It travels from the south to the north. Nowadays, the most favorite is to spend the night at the Hoan Kiem Lake and enjoy the friendly exchanges and talk with the local people about the daily life.
Confucian Temple has become the art photo area of the local kindergarten-Dr. Yu, the Sino-Vietnamese has always been a source, this plaque is Kangxi personally mention.
This time I did not do the Raiders in advance, completely random walking down the street, relying on the network, always responding + casual, and the convenience and stability of Roaming Superman gave me a lot of help~

The interior of Hanoi Cathedral is grand and exquisite
The Hanoi Cathedral is the oldest church in Hanoi, built in the neo-Gothic style, said to be modeled after Notre-Dame de Paris, featuring medieval charm, and is a very representative French-style building in Hanoi.
Although the exterior of the church is a bit mottled, the interior has a richly decorated main altar, stained glass windows, and square towers, all of which are quite impressive.
Outside the church, there is a small religious goods shop with a lot of beautiful items, including various books, prayer beads, and ornaments, it's a pity I didn't bring enough money. After visiting the church, you can go across the street for a cup of coffee or juice. Highly recommended to take a look!
I played in Hanoi for three days and I want to share my personal experience (Guide Edition)
1️⃣ I had Pho every day! Pho is the eternal god! Street stalls, takeaways, and popular shops are generally reliable, and I personally love beef pho the most! (Image 6)
2️⃣ I drank coffee every day! Legend coffee, cong coffee, egg coffee, laika coffee, and maison coffee are all pretty good. (Cong is very good, I have another note about it)
*Let me talk about maison coffee in particular, it's a chocolate brand founded by French people in Vietnam, their chocolate coffee and egg chocolate coffee as well as chocolate ice cream are amazing! (Image 7)
3️⃣ The train station coffee street is okay for taking photos, but the train has a fixed schedule, so it's better to arrive early and find a cafe on the first or second floor for a better shooting angle. (I just timed my visit there, the road was temporarily closed during the train's passage, and I could only wait for the train to pass before entering to take photos ) (Images 2-3)
4️⃣ St. Joseph's Cathedral looks great both during the day and at night (Images 4-5), and can serve as the starting and ending point for a Hanoi city walk, plus there are various cafes mentioned in point 2 around it for resting.
5️⃣ The popular coffee building is good for taking photos (Image 10), but there's no need to go inside. There's a nearby open-top sightseeing bus stop, 150,000 Vietnamese dong for a round trip without repeating the same route seems okay.
6️⃣ For souvenirs, I went to Lotte, which should be the busiest shopping district in Hanoi, with a variety of Vietnamese and Korean specialties in the department store on the basement floor. (Buying souvenirs from two countries at once? ) (Image 11)
7️⃣ For the hotel, I originally chose one near Hoan Kiem Lake, but after much hesitation, I chose a place 20 minutes away by car. After all, Hoan Kiem Lake is the most popular local attraction, and in my opinion, the things in tourist areas tend to have a worse cost-performance ratio and facilities.
8️⃣ The last point, the network signal is so bad...

Vietnam | The green years by the Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi
After the sleeping bus in Luang Prabang, Laos, and two days of rain in Hanoi, the sky finally cleared on the day of departure. Although it was cloudy, I walked around Hoan Kiem Lake, where many Vietnamese young men and women came to take photos in traditional costumes.
I was in a hurry in Hanoi, actually I didn't stay enough, but seeing the weather forecast of a sharp drop in temperature and rain, I quickly booked a ticket to Hoi An Ancient Town with a history of more than 1500 years, which is an hour's drive from Da Nang and is known as the Lijiang and Dali of Vietnam. If you just want to visit Hanoi, one day is enough.
