Impressions of Baiyun Mountain 4 - A Brief Account of Mingzhu Tower and Taohuajian
Coming out of Meihua Valley, head south towards Mingzhu Tower/Taohuajian and walk along the winding uphill road. You will reach the main road of Yunshan North Road in about ten minutes. Behind the large flower landscape work "Hai. Yun Gu" on the west side of the road is a group of pavilions and towers in the valley area. On the high platform on the east side of the road is a red courtyard wall. I thought it was a temple or Taoist temple, but it turned out to be Zhou Cheng with big words written on the wall.
Go in along the path on the west side of the road, where there is a larger body of water with two golden buildings shaped like bamboo cages on the water. Further in the distance is the Sheep Way, a restaurant belonging to the Beef and Sheep Cooking Family. Walk from a stone bridge with red bougainvillea blooming on the roadside to the other side, pass the Osmanthus Garden Restaurant, and go around to a two-story building called Mingzhu Building, which is located on the top of Baizugang. Mingzhu Tower was originally built to commemorate Mingzhunv, a female apprentice accepted by Huang Daopo in the local area. It is said that she studied hard, had the best understanding, and stood out among a group of women and girls who were learning. The locals called the place where Huang Daopo taught Mingzhunv's skills Mingzhu Tower. The current Mingzhu Tower was built by Guangdong warlord Chen Jitang for the convenience of his concubine Mo Xiuying to rest during her travels. Looking down from the Mingzhu Tower, you can see the entire Mingzhu Lake and the mountains opposite. Walking down past the Shuiyue Pavilion, you will see a convenient service station where the hillside is covered with various flowers and plants. When we arrived at the lake, we saw many Metasequoia trees with cone-shaped bottoms. The shadows of the surrounding trees were reflected in the emerald green water, which was refreshing. There is a bronze statue of the Pearl Girl in the square opposite the Pearl Lake.
Leaving Mingzhu Lake, walk up the mountain along Yunshan North Road. On the left is a hillside, and on the right is a river valley that is much lower than the road surface. This is Taohuajian. In Taohuajian, there is a colorful illustrated introduction to "Peach Blossoms and Love". There is also a small stream left over from the mountain, and there are many blooming flowers along the way. There is a huge stone wall with the inscription "Peach Blossom Spring". Walking along a very steep uphill road, passing Yichun Pavilion, you will soon arrive at the entrance of Taohua Gorge halfway up the mountain.
