This museum is the second largest in France, with a collection of more than 60,000 pieces, which is well worth visiting. Lille is also an important transportation hub and university city in northern France, combining modern vitality with ancient charm. The architectural style of the old town is completely different from that of Paris. You can also find many different faces of Lille and cute shops in the alleys, which are well worth exploring!

It was a trip to Lille, France. Our first stop was Grand Place (Place du Général de Gaulle), the heart of Lille’s historic center. The square is surrounded by stunning 😍 architecture, with the Vieille Bourse (Old Stock Exchange) standing out as a beautiful example of 17th-century Flemish Renaissance style. We loved taking pictures 📸 here, whether it was of the grand facades, the bustling market stalls, or simply the impressive columns and statues. It’s a bit outside the city center but worth the short walk or tram 🚋 ride. The surrounding park is perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the Citadelle itself provided an impressive backdrop for our photos 📸 We snapped some shots by the moat and the tall walls of the fortress, and even though it’s not as tourist-heavy as some other places, we found it to be a peaceful and picturesque spot 🙌 📍La Citadelle, 59000 Lille, France For something more modern, we explored Lille’s modern art scene with a visit to the Lille Modern Art Museum (LaM), just outside the city center. The contemporary architecture of the museum itself is striking, and inside, you’ll find a fascinating collection of modern art, including works by Picasso and Braque. Lille is not a big city, but it has many well-known universities and many students live there, so the city's atmosphere is very dynamic. It takes just over an hour to get there by train from Paris, which is enough time for a round trip in one day. It was once the location of the Lille Stock Exchange and now houses an old library. The building itself is beautiful and worth checking out. 🇫🇷4. La Citadelle Lille Castle A little away from the city, it was once a French army garrison and one of Lille's important landmarks. Although the city of Lille is not big, it has many local specialties and several snack bars are recommended. 🧇1. Pâtisserie Méert: A century-old dessert shop. The old stock exchange was built in 1652-1653 in Flemish style. Nowadays, the underground has become a second-hand market. Most of them sell old newspapers and magazines about France and some old postcards. The oldest ones are from the 1920s. The postcards were collected after being used by predecessors, and the covers include famous landmarks in France and Italy. Newspapers and magazines are sold in original copies, and the paper is generally yellowed, but they are still in good condition. Prices range from €5-€20 depending on condition and vintage. I am so impressed by the architecture during my trip to France. Be it the cathedrals or squares or even older buildings that have turned into something. Like in the case of La Vielle Bourse. What a beautiful building. A perfect example of gorgeous Flemish architecture. And if that wasn't a reason enough, what a fine vibe around this place! It's fascinating to see people with an interest in books. The area around has got plenty of coffee shops, retail outlets and a lively atmosphere. There is a market inside the building which i explored. It sells old books and vintage records. Very picturesque spot. I'm told it was even the stock exchange back in the days and so it has a symbolic importance to the history of Lille. There were people playing chess, friendly locals who spoke to me and told me so much about Lille. I even got invited for a meal. Such a place cannot be missed. Plus it's all free!
